  TH 8, level 72. Farming setup.
  
  I'm not going for TH 9 until every single thing is maxed out. Right now it's mostly defenses....walls are almost 100% crystal. It's taking forever.
  
  I recently joined up with a very active clan, and with the new War mode, it's been keeping me entertained.

  I'm currently going to level 8, and completely maxed out 7 except for the walls. I think im going to do the same as you on 8. I paid the $20 too when I started and got 5 builders.
  
  Let me know if you ever get tied of that clan. We have a 12 members (stay in a 10 clan battle) and are currently 11-0. It's all my law school buddies but were always active.

  i dropped 1320-1050 on purpose today because i was tired of getting my ass kicked..plus i can get money so much easier.

  Just started playing in January and wasted so many hours on the game...I put $20 in pretty early on also, which feels like a steal with how many hours I've played.
  
  I'm level 68 right now, just upgraded to TH8 10 days ago or so. I maxed TH7 everything except for a couple collectors and teslas weren't totally maxed.
  
  I'm currently trying to get enough DE for lvl for Barb King....I have upgrades going for a lot of defensive stuff right now which is making things tough. I use the 'shuriken' layout that I found online, but nothing will stop a skilled attacker with level 6 everything and Barb and Archer king...I'm at 16,000 DE and need 17,500 for the upgrade, and I keep getting jacked for like 800DE by these high level dudes.
  
  I'm bout to just gem the last couple thousand but I'm going to try for another couple days...
  
  I'm at like 1850 trophies right now, just going to get up to the Crystal thing to get a bunch of gems, then I"ll prob drop back down a bit.

  The initial $20 is good to get going. Once you get up to TH6-7 you only need 3 builders...4 max.
  
  5 would be worthless to me. I usually only have 2 tied up at once.

  How many Gems do you have? 1500 DE would only be like 200 to just buy

  I agree it only really helps til level 7, but it helped me get here waaaaay quicker. I've only been playing since early February and im maxed level 7, on way to 8.

  I have had 5 busy around the clock since I got the 5th one a few weeks ago...But I play here and there throughout work on slower days, and I boost barracks when I'm low on resources and do a ton of attacks during my lunch hour.
  
  If it wasn't for being able to get on a bit during work, though, I would agree on not being able to keep builders busy.

  Yeah, it's about 200..I have like 900 gems, but in my mind I'm saving them for getting the Archer Queen when I eventually get to TH9...I'd like to just be able to get kind of close and then use a ton of gems to get it right away rather than grinding for it. I don't plan on putting any more real money into the game, but who knows. I just want the Lvl 5 BK because he can do that rage ability thing.
  
  I have the DE drill to level 3 now, too, so it generates around 1,000 per day....which keeps getting stolen. It's just been a bad couple days with huge attacks against me...I have a farming setup so usually people snipe my town hall and protect me, but lately I've just been getting steamrolled by huge lvl 6 armies first.

  I play it but I hate it. I'm around a level 50 TH6 but everything is maxed, so I'm gonna go up soon. I'm pissed because I was almost to the 1000 gems needed for a 4th builder and it accidentally used 180 to remove a tree.

  Did that once...I think it was pretty close to 180 also...I was pissed.
  
  Just over the weekend I was letting my daughter hit the collectors because she likes the gold/elixir noises...boom -- 2 day shield for like 150-200 gems....damn.

  I climbed up to crystal league (2,000 trophies) a couple days ago and it’s pretty sweet up here…Took prob 3-4 hours of patience and finding bases with exposed town halls to snipe, but it was pretty easy to do an hour or two a day for a couple days.
  
  I recommend getting up here if you haven’t. For one, you get the achievement for 250 free gems, but the loot can be insane up here.
  
  
  I just attacked a base (I lost with only like 30%, but who cares). Used only barbs/archers (lvl5) and some gobs (lvl 4) and was able to easily loot 400,000 gold, 400,000 elixir, and 2,900 dark elixir....That’s the most DE I’ve ever gotten in one hit, but I’ve had about 4 raids with 1,000+ DE in the last 2 days, which is coming in handy for upgrading the barb king.
  
  You also get 50 DE and 32,000 gold and 32,000 elixir for every win, so sniping some town halls is even worth it up here for the bonus alone.

  It seems like due to trophy dropping, farming is harder and harder.

  I think a lot of people got back into the game with the war update...I've noticed it being harder since that update. Not as many abandoned bases on a regular basis for me..

  how do they determine what your available loot will be? is it a certain percentage? or does it slide relative to the person who is attacking you or you are attacking?
