Thinking about getting rid of cable...

Well, mine is not that cheap, and I can afford my cable, I just don't feel like spending that money anymore. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should spend your money on it...gut;1553185 wrote:the bundled price means I pay like $30/mo for cable....I can afford it -

Where did I say anything about stealing? Nice reading comprehension fail. You are trying too hard to be a smug ass know it all here. If you want to waste money on stuff just because you can afford it then so be it. I guess you support obamacare then since you can afford your higher rate. /gutfaillogicgut;1553252 wrote:If that were the case, you wouldn't be stealing it -
Con_AlmaWe don't technically get rid of cable but we do disconnected it each year for several months and literally don't watch any programming at all.

Con_AlmaGee ...thanks for your approval.
Of course it's O.K. It doesn't require your endorsement to make it that way. -

Out of curiosity, do you still pay for the service, or will the company let you forego all charges during that time?Con_Alma;1553307 wrote:We don't technically get rid of cable but we do disconnected it each year for several months and literally don't watch any programming at all. -
Con_AlmaThe company doesn't restrict me at all because we aren't on a contract. I do, however, pay for a basic antenna connection so I can avoid a monster reconnection fee when we turn it back on in the fall.

Ah, I was thinking it would be incredibly expensive to re-set your service otherwise.Con_Alma;1553322 wrote:The company doesn't restrict me at all because we aren't on a contract. That would be stealing - recall fail.like_that;1553012 wrote:. There are a few shows here and there, but most I can get online the next day it came online. I have passwords to family accounts to HBOGO, Starz online, and Showtime online.

Yes, I am stealing from my family. You are trying too hard.gut;1553339 wrote:That would be stealing - recall fail.
Also, I could easily live without those online streaming options LOL. Just admit your logic fail, and move on. -

No, you're stealing from the cable companies accessing premium services with an account that is not yours. "I could live without those online streaming options" - pretty much the standard justification from everyone for stealing cable.like_that;1553346 wrote:Yes, I am stealing from my family.
Neg reps for blatantly lying and trying to tell me I'm the one that fails logic. -

Now kindly stfu.
Anyway, back to the main topic. For those who are cable free how do you handle the live sports situation. -

If you are logging in to HBO Go, etc, with an account that is not yours you are stealing service. It's no different than splicing your neighbor's cable or sharing their wifi. That's flat out stealing -a.k.a. using a service you didn't pay for - from the cable companies.like_that;1553369 wrote:So if I lend you a couple movies you are now stealing? Derp merp neg reps.
Look, if you're too ashamed or afraid to admit you steal cable, then perhaps you should pay for the services you use. -
dlazz
It is different because they're handing the access over. It's like approaching your neighbors and asking to splice the cable and they agree.gut;1553421 wrote:It's no different than splicing your neighbor's cable or sharing their wifi. It's a violation of the terms between the owner and their cable provider, but it's not stealing.
By your rationale, asking to borrow someones car and they toss you the keys is stealing.

Pick6I think I'd equate it to stealing from netflix, hbo, etc...but frankly, IDGAF. If they really had a problem with it, they would find a way to limit the usage.
