ESPN's Streak for the Cash

  • Chesapeake
Anyone here still participate? Last month I hit W13 going for $400,000 then the Celtics lost to Bobcats and ended it for me.

I check the Ohio Chatter group from time to time and don't see many picking.

I think w7 or w8 are the highest I remember getting until last month when I got to 13. I lose pretty good too.

Longest streak I ever had was like W13 in college in spring of 2010 or so, back when I was addicted to it. Lost on an NCAA Tournament game. Haven't played it altogether in over a year. For basically having no money on the line -- let's be real, getting abducted by aliens is way more likely than winning that stupid game -- it's not worth the frustration. I used to get as mad over that shit when on a W7 or W8 as I did betting actual point spreads. Finally, I came to realization that I have real money on games why I am wasting my fucking time here.

I won $2,500 from an ESPN.com game when I was in my first year in college. I'll try to continue playing the free games...it's not something I care all that much about but it gives me a chance to pick some games with nothing riding on it.

This is definitely the attitude that you must have. Keep it fun and, hey, maybe you'll get lucky and win. That's cool that you won.

Unfortunately, being the competitor I am, I used to get unhealthily angry whenever my streak was lost on a bad beat of some sort -- which it ALWAYS was. One time, with a streak of like W9, I picked a college basketball game where Team A had to WIN or LOSE BY SINGLE DIGITS. Down 10 with under 5 seconds to play, Team A manages to get a fast break and make an uncontested dunk to cut the lead to 8 with only 1.5 seconds or so left. Thought I had sealed it. Then the guy hangs on the rim for an extended period of time and gets T'd up. Team B hits both free throws and wins by 10. THAT is SFTC in a nutshell.

Same. I just signed back up. When do you actually "win money?" One winner per month, or do you hit a certain # on your win streak?

    There's multiple ways to win.

-- Most wins in a month (wins some money, not the "stash")
-- Hit the Streak (number set by ESPN)
-- Occasional mini-streak days (many times it's a Thursday OR something like consecutive picks on NFL Draft day)
