Anyone on this site watch Cricket?

  • Zombaypirate
The 2nd most popular sport in the world, though in the US barely anyone has even seen a game. Anyone else watch cricket besides me? I have a feeling this thread will be "crickets" LMAO!
  • Pick6
Only reason I've watched ANY of it at all is because I have a few foreign roommates. I think it's boring and can find a ton of other ways to waste 8 hours of my day.
  • Heretic
Does the times where Monty Python spoofed cricket count as actually watching it?

If so, yes. If not, no.
  • Classyposter58
I really do not even know how to score or the object of the game

Boring? really? Much more exciting than baseball and 8 hours of your day? Try T20 cricket instead of test LOL. Lasts as long as an NFL game. Scoring is obscene if you love scoring cricket is for those who love scoring.

I do watch test and ODI cricket though my favorite is T20. Do have room mates from India?

I truthfully do not know much about it. But I think baseball is boring as well. I only know the 8hr thing because of what I've been told. Two roommates are from Pakistan. I do have a good friend who is Indian, though. I know India, Australia, England, and Pakistan are pretty good. I always give my roommates shit when they are watching it about their best player getting caught for fixing the matches or whatever it was.

Yes Pakistan is very good at Cricket along with the other teams you mentioned along with the West Indies and Sri Lanka. It is a relaxed but exciting sport once you know the rules. Try asking your room mates to teach you the game it really is very awesome. The 8 hr thing is test or ODI which One Day International match but T20 or 20/20 cricket is very exciting there are only 20 overs for each team.

Similar to baseball which its roots are from cricket. Several big differences. Imagine a baseball game where the pitching mound and plate are in the middle of a round field. With fielders all around. There is no such thing as a foul ball. The fielders need to stop the ball no matter where it goes. It is called the pitch. It is in the center of the field. Common scores in 20/20 cricket are 340-5 to 323-4 as an example. Lots of scoring in this game. The fielders are real men and do not wear gloves and have to catch a ball that is harder than a baseball. The only fielder allowed to wear gloves is the wicket keeper.

Very exciting game look at Wikipedia for the rules and watch on youtube I am sure there is some coverage there. The IPL (indian premier league) is very popular for 20/20 cricket.

It is not the 2nd most popular sport in the world for no reason. The first pro league was founded in the 1600"s.

That's not enticing. NFL games last forever. Why should an hour long clock last 3-4 hours? Oh, timeout after timeout. Commercial...commercial...commercial.

    It's become rather annoying.

That is not how cricket works. There is no clock and the pace is steady unlike American football. ( 3-5 seconds of action to 40 seconds of nothing wash rinse repeat)

It takes that much time for the overs. It is steady action and scoring.

I don't watch baseball or cricket.

I do enjoy watching curling and down hill skiing during the winter months.

When I worked at Accenture we took our co-workers from India to a Reds game. While we were there they tried to explain cricket to me. It sounds interesting but a single game can last for days, right?
  • Sonofanump
    Only cricket i've ever seen.

Only in Test cricket. 20/20 is approx. 4 hours. ODI is one day.

I watched a decent amount when studying abroad in London. During that time the cricket WC was going on. I had a lot of students from India and Pakistan in my dorm. It was hilarious to hear them talk shit to each other.....OSU/UM rivalry level. I know the rules somewhat, but didn't really care enough to understand it fully.

The 6 Nations rugby competition was also going on when I was abroad. Now that is a sport I could see myself watching if I was exposed to it more.

I've watched it before when I've been flipping through channels. Not bad but not something I would probably try and watch all the time.

Cricket is a gentlemen's sport that is insanely popular in India. And to a certain level in the UK but Rugby/Soccer is so dominant even the British don't really care about cricket anymore aside from whatever passes for the international Super Bowl in cricket (which does attract a huge following). There are secondary schools that play it but it isn't something you see every day, as you would soccer. It really is a sport played in only a few nations under the British empire.

Except that it is the worlds 2nd most popular sport. Australia, New Zealand, India, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan South Africa, etc it is very popular and a very entertaining sport. Many people like high scoring games, none are higher (that I know of) than cricket. It is still very popular in England very highly viewed when they play Australia.

Oh yeah Rugby is awesome I watch that also, nothing like the USA to take two great sports and make them worse.
