What was the last movie you watched and how would you rate it?

jmogIndependence Day: Resurgence.
You take a half dozen semi-big name actors (Goldbloom, Spiner, Helmsworth, Pullman, Ward, Fox, etc) and put them in a Sci-Fi channel esque movie (read in Sharknado) and you have Independence Day: Resurrection.
No wonder it is bombing in the US theatres. "We" all loved the original Independence Day 20 years ago it was a really good movie.
I swear they did to this what they did to Jurrassic Park when the T-Rex terrorized San Diego, made it look like Godzilla terrorizing Tokyo.
To be honest the special effects were still good, so its worth seeing in the theatres for those (especially once it goes to the cheap dollar theatres), but do NOT go in expecting a great movie like the original. Go in expecting Sharknado/Godzilla and you will not be disappointed.
5/10 (and that is generous). -

Yeah I was thinking 3/10. Even for a bad disaster movie it's boring as shit (it's just flat the entire way through), and it's beyond cheesy most of the timejmog;1801582 wrote:Independence Day: Resurgence.

I gave it a 5 because the special effects were good, but if going off only the plot/storyline/cheese factor it was definitely a 2 or 3/10.ts1227;1801583 wrote:Yeah I was thinking 3/10. I'm hoping to see this. My biggest fear are big creatures in the water, so I love shark movies. They freak me out.Fab4Runner;1801578 wrote:The Shallows - 6/10. Entertaining, and Mrs. Reynolds looked hot AF for the first half of the movie. -

Took the kids to see it, if I give Finding Nemo a 9/10, I would put this 7.5 or 8 as well. It was good and funny, but not as good as the original (only a few sequels ever have been better, Star Wars Ep V, Godfather II, Terminator Genysis, etc).Fab4Runner;1801765 wrote:Finding Dory - 8/10. Ditto. Not a fun movie...especially as a dad with a young son...I was a wreck. I just watched it for the first time earlier this year. Never again.Commander of Awesome;1801800 wrote:I find Finding Nemo to be an extremely stressful film. -

This is the first time I have ever heard anyone say something like this, lol. It's kind of hilarious/adorable.TBone14;1801801 wrote:Ditto. Not a fun movie...especially as a dad with a young son...I was a wreck. I just watched it for the first time earlier this year. Never again. -

This. Agreed with your rating of the movie and thoughts on Blake. She looked amazing.Fab4Runner;1801578 wrote:The Shallows - 6/10. Entertaining, and Mrs. Reynolds looked hot AF for the first half of the movie.
This. Goldblum was the only person I enjoyed in the whole movie and the effects were good. I never go in to a sequel expecting much, so I wasn't shocked when it was only half as entertaining as the first.jmog;1801582 wrote:Independence Day: Resurgence.

Warning...spoilers below for a terrible movie...bigdaddy2003;1801899 wrote:This. Agreed with your rating of the movie and thoughts on Blake. She looked amazing.

Half as entertaining is probably generous. I would easily give the original an 8 or 9/10. This one is just bad. The more I think about the movie the lower its rating gets. Coming out of the theatre I thought 5/10 due to Goldblum and the special effects.
The more I think about it the lower the rating drops, maybe a 2 or 3 by now. It was terrible plot, terrible "cheese" factor, they brought one guy back from the dead from the original with a "oh, he was in a coma the WHOLE TIME", to the Godzilla like scene with the Alien in the desert all next to a school bus full of kids...
Let's not forget the fact that if a "space ship" that literally covers about 1/3 of the planet lands on the planet we would be sent off our rotation/axis and maybe even our orbit around the sun. At LEAST they realized something that large would "pull its own gravity".
I mean seriously, if they were trying to take the original and make it like Sharknado they succeeded. -
Fab4RunnerThe Purge: Election Year - 6.5/10. Definitely entertaining, and Frank Grillo could do whatever he wanted. I would say it's my fave in the series. I liked it more than the 2nd one for sure.

j_crazyThe Fundamentals of Caring - 8.5/10. Paul Rudd was his usual self. The kid playing the sick kid was really good and clever as hell. Selena Gomez really stole it for me. I had to look up who the girl was, so when I found out it was Selena Gomez, it dumbfounded me.
Overall the story is kind of cheesy, but really well executed. -
kayoRudderless - 9/10. Watching it now for the first time on the Indie Channel. It's about a guy who loses his son unexpectedly, goes a little crazy, quits his job and lives on a boat, and finds some demo tapes his late son made. He then forms a band with some misfits and they become pretty popular on a local level. As long as they don't fuck up the ending by making it sappy (which is doubtful since it's an indie) this will turn out to be a great flick.

Fab4RunnerMike and Dave Need Wedding Dates - 7.5/10. Hilarious. Really, really dumb...but hilarious.

thavoiceFinally sat and watched Creed yesterday recouping and it wow was in fantastic.
I thought they did a great job all the way around. At first I was a little disappointed the most famouse Rocky music wasn't in it (thought it would be his walk out song) but when I came on at the end I was the perfect ending.
Looking fwd to the next one. -

It could be this year's Wedding Crashers, Dumb and Dumber, etc. -

I gave it a 6/10. I didn't think Adam Devine was funny at all. Anna Kendrick needs a hamburger or three.jmog;1803074 wrote:Wife and I saw this last night, and I agree with your assessment. Hilarious but dumb, 7/10.

thavoiceHad a short window to see one sunday and the only one in that time frame at Polaris was Ghostbusters.
Wasn't horrible, but wasn't that great. Glad it was only 5 bucks. -
j_crazystraight outta compton. I thought it was good. I'm actually shocked that the kid who played Eazy E didn't get nominated for an Oscar. 9/10

'AIDES? But I aint no ******?'
For someone who grew up during that time and remembers that stuff it was very interesting! -
bigdaddy2003Mike and Dave. Eh, I thought it would be a little funnier than it was. Honestly Zac Efron was the funniest person of the main 4. I don't think anything Anna Kendrick said was funny. I was hoping her top would come off though. I would give it a 5 out of 10.
