Can't do a poll too many options. What is the very best show on TV today? I am going with The Walking Dead.

Best overall, easily Mad Men for how good the story lines are and how well they are presented. Extremely good show with an outstanding leading actor, but my personal favorite is Justified which is close but not quite

    Another vote for Modern Family

    1. Game of Thrones
    2. The Newsroom
    3. Homeland
    4. Boardwalk Empire
    5-10 (in no order)
    Shameless
    House of Lies
    Justified
    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    Mad Men
    Modern Family

Game of Thrones or Boardwalk..it's a toss up for me
  • GoChiefs
Sons Of Anarchy for me. Justified is a close second.

I like Boardwalk, but it's definitely a slow burn and IMO it's carried (and needs to be, at times) by the historical gangster angle.

I think GOT is by far the best. Some good comedies mentioned, but I don't think we can really compare a sitcom with an hour-long drama.

    Sons of Anarchy

So many good ones, hard to pick one.

    I'll go with Justified.

Just watched 2 episodes of The League then went right to SOA. Good call.

    Can't wait until Justified though.

Some of these are more my personal favorites than actual submissions for best show on TV, but my list would be:

    The Newsroom
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (I'm hanging in there, even though the quality is nowhere near it was just two years ago)
Elementary (The show is Johnny Lee Miller, but that's enough for me. He's as close a character to Gregory House still on television, and that's enough for me)
Parks and Rec (IMO the funniest show on network television today)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (good call by Laley. Most people overlook the show and forget it's still on since it's technically on hiatus, but Larry David is brilliant)

The only current show I watch regularly is Sons of Anarchy now that Breaking Bad is over. Without cable it's hard to catch non-network shows. I have watched Walking Dead through the first episode of this season. Now that I am caught up on Sons I will catch up on it, I guess. Last season sucked so hard, though.

Only one show I make sure I watch each week and that is Sons of Anarchy.

Enjoy Big Bang Theory on TBS in reruns but never watched it when it is on network.

Started watching Modern Family on USA the last few months, good show but the the one guy is just too damned gay.

My favorite is considered a factual show. Seems everyone else has listed dramas or fictional type of shows.

Top Gear (UK) rules. If nothing else is on I'll watch the USA version even though it's nowhere as good.
