I'm not sure how many used to be active posters during the Huddle's peak (2005 to 2007 before the software switch), but I bet it was closer to 1,000. Kind of hard to believe how big a small Ohio site became.

It had to be well over 1,000 at one point, there are spin off sites like Southeast Ohio Preps that have hundreds of posters - who got agitated and left.

1000 seems like a stretch for the huddle. There were a lot of posters, but 1000?

I could see it if you're talking the site as a whole. There were a lot of people who either completely or near-completely hung on the high school forums and rarely, if ever, were on Trivia/Info.

It depends on if you're talking regular year-round posters, though, or guys who'd pop up and talk during, say, the HS football season and then disappear for the most part the rest of the year unless some sort of big news for the team/league they followed was happening. Because a lot of that type were in the latter category.

At one point the huddle had a TON of posters. ST/I was so crowded you had to actually pick what threads to follow because you couldnt keep up with all of them...

True, they even divided the HS football forum by North and South. 1000 still seems a lot. How many posters do you think are on Yappi? I think they have the same amount of posters that the Huddle use to have.

Good question. It's been a few months since I've been on Yappi, but I'd imagine they probably got some percent of the high school traffic, at least. I was just rarely on those boards and when I stopped going there, the general board had just gotten unbearable because it seemed like about a dozen people with 50 alts each had taken over.

Just off the top of my head I can think of 15 Gallia Academy fans that posted on jjhuddle, and probably a bit more that were Ironton fans. I doubt many still post there because they moved to the spinoff. But just from two fan bases, and relatively small schools there were close to 50 posters. I can't imagine how much the big schools had at one point.

I have been on there a little bit to talk HS football since the playoffs started. it has decent traffic for that, but the general board is a ghost town.

I jump in on Yappi for the hs play-off and post some times
Haven't been on JJ for some time .. I post something or create a thread and then go away
Some of my faithful fan and haters followed me to the OC which decreased the JJ threat and post volume by 30%

Never got the OC signing Vcash bonus.... mofo :)

Yeah, they seem to have had a "late action is WORSE than no action" moments, from what I gather. They had a solid general board and then did nothing while a group of people created a bunch of alts and completely took it over, switching accounts the minute they went over the top and actually got modded. That drove away most people not on the inside of that group, probably. And then, all of a sudden, went the other way and made the general board "family-oriented" and got rid of all the alts and in-jokes.

Haven't posted there much since this site started, but the last time I looked for something or other there (probably high school-related), I checked the general board and it seemed to be mostly dead with a couple people complaining about the modding and a couple people happy about the changes.

I'd say the huddle easily had over 1000 at one time especially during football season.

As for here I'd guess there are atleast 100 active posters(Probably more I don't go to the HS forums).

Wow, just went to jjhuddle - the sports trivia/info forum is an absolute ghost town. I have no idea why my account still works there given that I haven't posted in years. After getting a 30 day ban for mentioning a competing website I was done with it. It is odd seeing old usernames there.

They about killed that site. It is way low and truthfully it is kind of sad. Lots of information about obscure teams is now lost.
