What on the Thanksgiving table
-
Belly35Thanksgiving tomorrow and what on the menu?
The table is set with the wife finest crystal and chine. Pickle tray, fresh rolls, devil eggs and wine are on the table.
We start with giving Grace to God and the blessing we have.
First> Bowl of Grandma Chicken Noodle soup (tradition) I make it, cooking time 4 hours
Dishes cleared
Next> Salad is passed around Garden Salad with home made dressing
Mash Potatoes passed around
Green Bean Casserole
Country Corn
Stuffing two types Simple Type and also Stuffing made with the Heart, Liver, Sage baked inside the turkey
Cranberry sauce is then passed around
Once everyone plate is load up….. I bring out the Turkey and make the gravy
Turkey is sliced on one side and the gravy is make hot from the turkey drippings..
Ending with Pumpkin pie or Pecan pie w/ whipped cream and coffee is servied. -
Manhattan BuckeyeGoing out to dinner - Thanksgiving isn't celebrated here so I'm thinking a nice appetizer of salmon and a small salad with Bombay Sapphire and tonic, perhaps pork belly and a glass or two of shiraz for the main course and creme brulee for dessert and a few more glasses of shiraz since we're walking home.

redstreak oneTurkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and my favorite oyster dressing. My maternal grandmother made this for years until she passed away, now my mother carries it on and I love it!

damn right. If I have to live overseas I'm living it up. Eff you guys in cornpone land, I'm having a real dinner as opposed to dry turkey and crappy over-caloried side dishes. If turkey was that awesome, why do we only eat it once a year? If you factor in leftovers for a week it isn't a cost issue.ernest_t_bass;1543925 wrote:/MB'd -

At our house, everything is set on the table, we say grace, then everyone digs in. -

justincredibleNot sure what everyone else is bringing, but I am making the turkey and my wife is making green bean casserole, cranberry sauce (not the canned bullshit), and some banana bread.
-
justincredibleAnd my turkey is never dry.
-
gorocks99We're brining our turkey tonight (first time brining one ... hear it makes for a great bird though, so I'm all for it), making brioche-pear-italian sausage stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and squash. Brother-in-law and family are bringing sweet potatoes, FIL and MIL brought assorted pies from Michigan.
-
dlazzI'll probably get Burger King or some shit

My method prevents the initial interruption, ongoing passing of food and the continues delay of conversation and eating. What happen with seconds is a other matter... Fend for yourselfGoChiefs;1543933 wrote:Dinner time does not sound like a good time at the Belly house.

Is there also a set time you must eat each portion? God forbid someone dares to eat too fast.
