Extreme case of harassment on my trip to work this morning...
-
justincredibleSomething extremely ridiculous happened to me on my way to work this morning. I'll try to make a long story short-ish.
I end up behind a slow Mazda MR2 as I come up to a left turn lane. He had almost passed the entrance to the left-turn lane with no indication of turning (no signal, no veering towards the lane) so I started to enter the lane behind him. All of a sudden he zips over in front of me and slams on his brakes a good 4-5 car lengths ahead of the vehicles stopped at the light. His car was about where the two red lines are when I started to go around him into the turn lane.
Because the guy was an asshole, I kinda threw my arms up in a "what the hell are you doing?" fashion. I can seem him fumbling around in his car but not sure what's going on. Then he roles down his window and, I think, motions me to go around him. I put my hands up again because I still had no idea what this asshole wanted. He motioned me again, so I started to go around him. He zipped back in front of me and flipped me off. At this point the turn arrow was green and cars were going so he sped off through the light as the turn arrow went away and oncoming traffic started to go. As he sped off I laid on my horn, flipped him off, called him an asshole, and thought that was that. Just some jackass being a jackass.
I get up up to the light and am able to make it through before the main light turns red. As I get up the street I see this asshole pulled off along the side of the road. Waiting for me. As I pass, sure enough, he starts following me. I get on 71N and move over to the 2nd from the far left lane. The guy comes up behind me and gets in the far left lane and drives beside me. I am behind a car so I can't speed up to get around him. There is no one ahead of him and he's driving along at 55 to block me in. At this point I make eye contact with him and very clearly enunciate "YOU ARE A FUCKING PSYCHOPATH. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" A little bit up the road another lane feeds into the highway on the left. I slow down, get behind him, get over into the new far left lane and try to speed around him. No, this dickhead jumps into my lane to block me, almost hits me, almost runs me off the road. I am fuming at this point, the motherfucker won't let me pass him, won't leave me alone. Finally he starts to pull away and as I get towards my usual exit I start to work my way to the right lane. He was clearly watching me in the rearview the whole time as he starts changing lanes with me. He gets in front of me and gets off at the same exit. He turns right at the red light. I turn right at the red light and he has, once again, pulled off to the side of the road to wait for me so he could follow me again. I was going to the Dunkin Donuts which is on the left, just off that exit, so I cross traffic and pull into the lot. At that point he drives off and I have no idea where he goes.
At that point I absolutely wanted him to follow me in to the parking lot. Though, I'm glad he didn't because I'm not sure what I would have ended up doing. I have his license plate number but not sure what I can do with it, other than keep my out eye for him.
Ever have anything like this happen to you? -
vball10setI'd be proactive (ie cover your ass) and file a report, just to put it on record. He may have gotten your plate as well, and you never know what this psycho may do. What's to say he won't file his own report, reverse the situation, and try and say you were road raging him?

Could be. His car wasn't very nice so I doubt he was any sort of big shot.Belly35;1540671 wrote:lower level average IT guy working at a dead job at an engineering firm, but didn't think about that before graduation for Ohio State -

Raw Dawgin' itI did the "throw my arms up, wtf motion before" to a guy who ran a red light and almost hit me. We end up next to each other at the light and since it's summer all the windows are down.
He yells over to me "Hey man! why you acting like a bitch?!" and it took me off guard. I look over at him and go "did you just call me a bitch?" It was weird because his woman was in the car too.
He kept chirping and i yelled something like "just shut the fuck up and mind your business" and he then said "say something again and i'll get out of this car" and I probably said something and he didn't do shit. The light turned green and I took off.
Couple things, 1) I keep a tire iron in the front seat of my car and 2) Does he really think I would've gotten out of my car? We were the first two at the light, I would've just taken a right or ran the red. People are nuts. Also - the tire iron ended up in the front seat cause i got a flat and never put it back in the trunk. After that incident it'll never go back in the trunk. -

TiernanWhat part of "shortish" don't you understand?

Ironman92I've several mini versions of these but your's went way too far.
Everyone makes mistakes driving but when you make the mistake you really shouldn't be a nut job about someone getting a little mad.....get mad back and then move on about your day. Anything more and the guy is likely nuts.
About 2 years ago my wife was going to the store pretty early in the morning and at the light near our house there is is car in the far right lane (where cars are definitely turning right and maybe even on red if nothing's coming).....so my wife pulls up on the left side as she is simply going to turn left when the light turns green. The jackass welfare puts down his window and screams at my wife for the next 30 seconds (called her everything you could think of lol) because she "cut him off" as he was turning left?
Unfortunately I was sleeping in and missed it all.....she was pretty fired up when she got home. I wish it would've been me instead. -

This is my take. If someone does something stupid I'll tap the horn or put my hands up and then move on with my day. If I do something stupid and get called out on it I'll generally wave to "apologize" for it. Then I move on. This guy was clearly a psychopath. I forgot to mention the entire time I could see his face he was smiling.Ironman92;1540721 wrote:I've several mini versions of these but your's went way too far.

OSHI like to smile and wave at people when they are mad. Gets them fuming even more. It's fun.

As long as you haven't escalated the situation to its current state I see no problem with it.OSH;1540728 wrote:I like to smile and wave at people when they are mad. Gets them fuming even more. It's fun. -
I Wear PantsI'd file a report in the unlikely chance you see him again and he does similar or does the same to someone else and cause an accident it'll be on the record.

Before resorting to "standing your ground" try calling the cops.
