Work Thanksgiving potluck
-
AutomatikWho has this event at their place of work? What did you make?
If you don't have it for Thanksgiving, sucks for you.. Anyway, what is your go-to potluck dish?
I work in the food biz, so this potluck is not to be taken lightly. My coworkers will be going all out to try to impress the rest. My culinary expertise is limited so I keep it simple, usually deserts. This year I'm bringing Buckeyes. I made around 100 last night. Why? Because easy and none of my coworkers have heard of them or knew wtf they even were.
Messing with melted chocolate is somewhat of a bitch, but they turned out great.
This is a stock photo.
What's your specialty...mofo?? -
Devils AdvocateMy attitude towards this is that if someone bought some pot, we were all in luck.
-
LJI'm not the biggest fan of office potlucks. Dunno what other peoples kitchen and sanitary practices are like

30 or so years ago a rich great uncle from Florida said he would give us a $100 if we could find some buckeyes, real ones, when he came up. We did, and years later found out he had a $1000 bet with some other old dude in Florida who said there was no such thing.
BUt i digress.
My specialty is lasagna using cream cheese....excellent. -

mcburg93We have a potluck on thanksgiving every year since we are working on that day. It usually turns out pretty good. Boss usually brings in a honey baked ham and turkey. I would always bring in pop, tea, and coffee. We always just signed up for what you wanted to bring in.
-
HereticWe only have a Christmas potluck.
Which is good. At least for me, as that is dangerously close to actually spending social time with coworkers and with a few of the ones I have, I consider that to be demeaning.
I mean, the food is good and all, but I have to listen to some of these bitches gab constantly at work all the time -- having to share a meal with them is just too much. Lunch is supposed to be my team to detox from them and chill out, not endure them for even longer. -

So you don't ever eat outside your own kitchen? Don't be such a puss.LJ;1539721 wrote:I'm not the biggest fan of office potlucks. Dunno what other peoples kitchen and sanitary practices are like
We are doing Mexican food for ours. Sounds funny I know, but we figured we'd get enough of the traditional stuff with our personal Thanksgivings. -
LJ
Did I say that? No. Dont be such an idiot. Restaurants are inspected. Eating at someone else's house you see their kitchen. Someone who brings food to your house you typically know them well enough to know if they are clean or not.WebFire;1539754 wrote:So you don't ever eat outside your own kitchen? Don't be such a puss.
That taco dip at the office potluck sure is delicious. Too bad stinky Jim made it from year old institutional grade meat and cheese in his kitchen full of mice and roaches. -

TiernanI personally hate anything casserolish and that is the staple of these kinds of affairs...I usually schedule something "out of the office" those days.

Fab4RunnerNo potlucks here. It's just me, my boss and his son in the office.
We are having a Thanksgiving themed tailgate for the Browns/Steelers on Sunday, though. I am taking mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and a ham. We will also be having turkey, green bean casserole, corn bread, homemade chicken and noodles and some other stuff. I forget. -

Use fresh chicken breast and blu cheese instead of ranch.vball10set;1539805 wrote:I don't know how his is, but it's actually pretty damn good. -
