Conkle Hollow/ Hocking Hill
-
Belly35This weekend the Belly Family will be taking our 2 year traditional hike to Hocking Hill but this year we are going first to Conkle Hollow.
Any suggestion on what to see first at or around Conkle Hollow?
Those who live in this area are the trails frozen yet?
Wife doesn't handle frozen path very good. Will have to get some ice tread type boots or something for her.
Also what the Name and the town that the pizza place is in with those great cheese sticks??? -
GoChiefsNo, the trails won't be frozen yet. I highly recommend a winter visit though. It's gorgeous when the falls freeze over and snow is on the ground.
Pizza Crossing in Logan. Best damn pizza around. -

I'm slowly working the family to a winter hike and stay over but its a work in progress with the wife ... she hate wet weather and winter snow and cold. She getting better however with the idea of this family event. -

TedShecklerEnjoy the new roundabouts.

Depending on the route they take, I doubt these will be an issue.TedSheckler;1531941 wrote:Enjoy the new roundabouts. -
TedShecklerI just get good laughs reading about all the people bitching about them and complaining how confusing they are. Stupid people.

I know. Facebook was pretty funny the first couple days after they opened.TedSheckler;1531955 wrote:I just get good laughs reading about all the people bitching about them and complaining how confusing they are. Stupid people. -
bases_loadedTheres a BBQ joint there. Pretty good. The "cheesesticks" at pizza crossing were OVERRATED IMO. Maybe I got a bad batch, but they sucked dick
-
Belly35What the roundabouts? Is it a trail you can follow?
-
GoChiefsEh, nothing too special about The Millstone, IMO. Not any better than an Old Carolina or Hog Heaven from up this way. You definitely must have had a bad batch. Those are probably your 2 best choices in Logan though.

LJSpeaking of Hocking Hills, has anyone done the Santa Train out of Nelsonville?

GoChiefsMany times when I was a child.

said_aouitaJust to troll even more - Clifton Gorge is a great trail. Also next door to Yellow Springs. Go eat lunch at the Winds Cafe and get ice cream at Young's for desert afterwards.

Is it fun? Or would it be boring with a 10 month old? -
GoChiefsI'd say it's not worth your time with a 10 month old. I'd wait a couple of years. It's just a 20 or 25 mile train ride and Santa walks up through the cars during the trip talking to the kids.

Yeah, I was also worried that if it isn't snowy outside that we would just be staring at mud the whole time. I figure the ride is at least pretty in the summer and fallGoChiefs;1531999 wrote:I'd say it's not worth your time with a 10 month old. I'd wait a couple of years. It astounds me how confusing roundabouts are to people.TedSheckler;1531941 wrote:Enjoy the new roundabouts.
Fucking idiots. -
redrocketConkle's Hollow is one of my favorites. Be ready if you try the rim trail, legs and lungs will come in handy. If you stay on the trail in the hollow is an easy walk, just not real long, but non the less very pretty. Check out Ash Cave, Rock House and even Cantwell Cliffs, they are all beautiful. If you like cider head over to Laurelville which is a hop skip and jump from Conkle's Hollow, they have some good stuff. Enjoy your trip.

Belly35We did the Cantwell cliffs top and bottom, Conkle hollow top and bottom and a Ash cave, dinner at Pizza Crossing.
Long day but worth the pain, strain and fatigue -
SonofanumpAny suggestions on a place to stay down there for a few days? Just three of us, mainly hiking trip with 9 year old in late March.

I'm not sure but some OC member has a rental cabin in that area?
That what I would do is rent a small cabin, bring your own food and drink, sit in the evening to a open fire and wake up and see deer, turkey and bigfoot... -
