Good way to cook deer meat?
-
thavoiceI guess I could google it, but would rather see what you all do.
When the in laws asked if I wanted any deer meat from the one that someone got on their property the other week I guess I assumed it would be in the form of jerky or summersausage or whatever they would have done with it.
but instead it was just a cut of the raw meat. Shoulda figured they would do something like that.....
So how should I cook it? -
ernest_t_bassI prefer heating mine in a skillet on the stove, but will eat it cold.

gerb131Mix with spaghetti or meatloaf or soup etc...

EnforcerDepends on what part of the deer it is, if its a roast , crock pot is good, if its steak , fix it like You would a regular steak.
The most important thing about Deer meat is dont over cook it -
LJGood god don't cook it like a normal steak. Marinate the steaks in an oil based marinade like italian dressing. Gotta add fat to the meat somehow.

redrocketIf you have a roast, get a roasting bag put your taters, onions and such in it along with a can of V-8 juice. An option is to wait till it is about done, pull it out, shred the top of it and add some Sweet Baby Ray's then stick it back in the oven for awhile.

EnforcerI always cook mine in a skillet or grill like a regular steak just cut the cooking time down alot

se-alumBrine for 24 to 48 hrs in water, salt, and sugar. Wrap with bacon, and put it on a smoker around 225 degrees for 4 hours. I mop with apple juice every half hour. Most tender deer meat I have ever had. The tenderloins I brine for about 8 hours, wrap in bacon and grill it.

cat_loverIf it is tenderloin brine, wrap in bacon and grill it. Other cuts either roasting bag in the oven or slow cooker.

MulvaToaster oven.

GOONx19Straight on the grill. Venison tastes fine without a marinade, as long as you like lean meat.
