What are your 2013 Holiday plans?

  • LJ
Going to do Thanksgiving at my parents this year. I always buy the turkey fresh from White Feather Farms. Kind of a neat tradition I started a few years ago.

Everyone is going to come to our house for Christmas due to my wife being on call Christmas day.

Probably just have a kid friendly NYE get together.

My brother and I are currently not speaking, so this will be a very interesting holiday season.

    Booze? Gotta be booze.

Believe Thanksgiving falls on a thursday this year so I will be celebrating that, and Christmas on the 25th so I will do something for that as well.

Going to ohio for thanksgiving and Xmas. NYE either in DC or NYC.

Always. It's just more of a hangout than a party. But lots of booze and usually good food. If we have it at our house I'll probably grill and smoke a bunch of random meats from Carfagnas

How long do you smoke your meat?

Will be hosting my in-laws along with my siblings and their kids for Thanksgiving. Christmas we go nowhere but home after church that morning. New year's Eve...I have no idea.

Depends on the meat, but I like to leave my sausage in there longer than most.

I'll be doing the turkey for Thanksgiving, just as I have the last 4 years. We've moved the actual get together from our house to my in-laws because they have a lot more space and we've added a few people.

We will be going up to my mom's the Sunday before Christmas and staying until the afternoon on Christmas day. Then back to Cincinnati to exchange gifts with her family.

No idea what our NYE plans will be but I am going to see if she wants to go to Chicago.

My mother got into a huge fight with her sister and her family about 6 years ago. Both so damn stubborn, so they hardly speak anymore. Probably haven't seen my cousins in about 10 years because of it.

    Hopefully not.

Heading to the beautiful Ohio Valley for Thanksgiving and Xmas. I got lucky, able to hitch a ride home for both. Flight prices are insane right now.

NYE, I'll be here. My friend hosts/throws a party...entry and all you can booze at a solid venue for one price.

We looked at flying to Buffalo for Thanksgiving to my wife's parents' and tickets started at $450 each round trip. I feel like they were $200 each round trip last time we flew there.

For the first time ever we will not have Thanksgiving at my parents house. We are all traveling to my sisters house in North Carolina instead because my brother in law has to work the day after.

I hate Christmas. This year, we will do Xmas Eve with my wifes family in Canton. (Ugh...shoot me.) Wake up at home Xmas morning, do our own gifts, then go to her parents to do gifts there. Then around 2:00 we will leave to make the 2.5 hour drive to my parents in Logan, do Xmas dinner there, then open gifts at their house, where we will stay for a couple of days.

    No plans yet for NYE.

I wouldnt say I hate Christmas and such, but yeah it can be a pain.

What I really hate is the in laws change from year to year what and when they do their things. Seems pretty stupid becuase it always messes up plans for all the families. My family has done the same thing for thanksgiving and christmas to allow the other sides of the families to get into a routine as well and for those 4 it works out great.

    Yeah, it's fucking ridiculous.

I fly into Pittsburgh to go home. Last I checked Tues-Sunday over Thanksgiving was $350ish. It's a 50 min flight.

I found a deal last year and got a round trip for around $200 in early September...no such luck this time.

Not sure about Thanksgiving Day. My family has our dinner on Friday instead of the actual holiday. With step-sibs and significant others, it just makes it easier for everyone to be able to go to multiple places. I might make a small dinner on my own Thursday just for fun.

I will be on a cruise from December 15th through the 22nd, so I believe we will be having our family Christmas/annual party on the 27th or 28th. Not sure about that, though. We get together with another family and play Win, Lose or Draw while drinking a lot of booze.

My roommates and I plan to host a NYE party at the house we are currently renovating and moving into. I prefer to stay in and keep in simple. It's almost always a let-down when I go out.

Oh and I know...that is a bunch of really awful beer that most OCers would never drink.

Thanksgiving is at my in laws, then we stop in at my mothers after. Get to eat twice, and my mom makes oyster dressing a favorite of mine that my paternal grandmother use to make. Christmas eve should be at my maternal grandmothers, she is currently in the hospital fighting off an infection. She turns 90 in 4 days, so hoping all works out. We have been going to my grandmothers since I can remember and before that as well which is 40 years, so big tradition. Christmas we spend at home, my mother and my in laws come over for breakfast and watch my heathens open gifts. Christmas dinner at my moms.
