All you've done is contribute to the problem, making you part of the problem yourself. Did you expect me to start banning people after you started a "bait" thread?Belly35;1526472 wrote:Notice communication and opinion voiced without ... all the immaturity and prevertion comments
Everyone thinks they have the perfect idea of what is going to "save" the forum. We've tried a bunch of different things in the past and nothing has brought in an influx of new members that some people think are just waiting to jump in and talk. Remember when we had the infraction system and actually banned members for a hot minute? Yeah, it didn't help. -

@Belly35 - how about we break down the wall for a minute. Getting a rise out of you is the entertainment. It doesn't matter what you say. -

Yeah, to seriously tie in with that, the problem with having message board problems is that different people have different ideas of what the problem is and none of those people really ever look at themselves as a problem even if other people are telling them they are. And there's never going to be a consensus on what the problem is. You can go back a few months to the F4F vs. LT/CoA deal, where the multitude of polls on who was the problem and should this mod be revoked all came out to be more of a 55-45 (if that) percentage than a 90-10 deal where anyone could say that the site has spoken and that's that.justincredible;1526479 wrote:All you've done is contribute to the problem, making you part of the problem yourself. I mean, with this case, you have a person complaining about personal attacks and the like. In a way that involved making personal attacks on a user and then just now trying to say it has nothing to do with that person, but that's a different story, I guess. And there's nothing wrong with that, as I'd say that is one of the bigger complaints (at least until we decide to do stuff about that, in which case, asshole mods becomes the biggest problem).
But then, that complaint comes from one of the more annoyingly over-political posters on the site who constantly drops in references to how this society problem or that is due to the welfare state community organizer not my president mofo guy, which also seems to be annoying to a few people judging by the responses here. Because no one (other than full-fledged politards) likes that guy who always is looking for ways to shoehorn his political views into every damn topic of conversation regardless of how forced it is.
So it all turns into "person with annoying posting habit complaining about others with annoying posting habit". -

Belly35I never said anything about banning anyone ... Just tone down the vulgar, degrading and immature slander comments directed at other OC members by a few … no reason someone has to make those type of comments when trying to have open dialog on a site dedicate to the opinions of others.
What this site worth? -

But seriously, I'm not really sure how to calculate that.
I don't disagree with your first point. But I also haven't seen much, if any, of that recently. The idea is to threadban people that go over the top with stuff like that. -

Belly, I started a thread like this once. Your best bet is to just STFU, and it'll all subside. For me on a forum I don't get bother by anything really. I've told a few of my friends about the site but none of them really get on forums for they've never checked it out. They did however get some good laughs from some threads (the breowns will make the playoffs thread by footwedge for sure was a big hit). -
