Yeah lobbying to be allowed to discriminate based on sexuality isn't indicative of a pretty strong stance on the issue.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1523066 wrote:since no one on here besides you knew they were anti-gay, I wouldn't say that constitutes pretty strongly.
Edit: That said they're obviously not the worst at it and their other programs do help people. I'd just rather my donations go to other organizations that do the same types of things and don't have and issue with LGBT people. I'm not gonna be protesting in front of the bell ringers or anything, just don't put my change in and give it somewhere else. -

They don't NOT like any PERSON.I Wear Pants;1523062 wrote:No, I mean officially. They've "changed" some of their official policies as public opinion has changed but they're still officially of the "we don't condone that but as long as they don't act on it we're all sinners" opinion.
So...what you stated was your "official" view of what you think they view "unofficially." -

HitsRusI'll tell you this...new appliances, especially washer and dryers are not built like the old ones. Those old ones...if running and in good condition should fetch you a fair price....especially kenmore. I'd definitely try to sell them. Frankly, I'm not sure that replacing a well running old set with a new set was such a good idea. With all the environmental and energy star changes, it takes forrreeeevvvveeerrrrr to wash and dry a load. Mrs.Hits absolutely hates the rather expensive set we have at our family's vacation home. Meanwhile we pay small dollars periodically to keep the old set running at home.

When we are required to purchase new appliances I hate the options available. Ideally I could find a unit with minimal features yet built with the quality of a long lifespan. UNfortunately we are many times better off buying the cheapest one and can purchase multiple ones before realizing the expense of one high quality one.
Repairing our old existing units and keeping them as long as possible is what we try to do. -

I'm taken so no thanks on the date.Sonofanump;1523555 wrote:So we good for diner after we go see Ender's Game?
But yeah, I'm not really big into that sort of boycott because I doubt the efficacy of them. Personally I don't eat at Chik-fil-a because there's none near me. Their owner's bigoted opinions count for maybe like 1% of why I don't eat there. Same thing with Barilla pasta, never used it before, but now I definitely won't. My lack of support for the Salvation Army is because there's so many available alternatives that do the same thing that they do. Many charities to donate to and Goodwill to give clothes to/shop at (Plus I feel GW is usually much better organized).
As far as Ender's Game goes, I'll probably see the movie, it's an interesting story and me not going isn't going to effect anything. What I like to do with that sort of thing is make people aware of the actions/statements of whoever it is that's being an asshole and hopefully they also agree and recognize that sort of behavior isn't something to be lauded. I'm much more concerned with people's attitudes and perceptions continuing to change towards accepting gay people than I am with hurting the pocketbooks of people that don't.
No, they've lobbied against pro-gay laws. Spending money on something is about the most official stance you can take on an issue.OSH;1523451 wrote:They don't NOT like any PERSON.

Anyway. Yeah, older washers and dryers definitely seem more robust in their construction.
