How do you address your former teachers and coaches?

  • thavoice
    ..and no, husband or wife isnt what I am looking for here ya pervs.

    What type of respect do you show the teachers and coaches you have? I see alot of young people calling teachers/coaches by their first names after they graduate and was wondering what you all do?

    I know I still address them as Mr or Mrs and Coach....

    Teachers by their name. Coaches every last one of them I've ever had, still call them coach.
  • ernest_t_bass
    Depends. Usually still Mr./Mrs. All coaches... coach.

    I never talk to any teachers. But I still call my high school cross country coach "coach glamm"

    This reminds me of a funny story when I was a senior and going into a football game and my coach was a couple people in front of me and shouted his first name... next Monday at practice he got us all around and said that we are to address him as Coach, Coach Glamm or Mr. Glamm until we graduate. Then I had to do a few extra laps from our workout that day.

    I would call a teacher Mr/Mrs. My wrestling coach was my cousin, so I call him Craig.

    not only do i still call my old teachers mr. or mrs, but as a teacher now, when i see other teachers outside of work i still address them as mr. or mrs. because it becomes so engrained at work

    Called all but 1 of my teachers by their first name in school and all my coaches by their first name. So, I still do that lol.

    I haven't spoken to any former teacher or coach of mine in over a decade. I think I did call him "coach" when I did, though.

    All of my basketball coaches are "Coach", my baseball coach is "Trev" (a shortened version of his last name), and my track/cc coach is Mr. Rupe.

    Depends on the teacher or coach. I call some Mr./Mrs., some by their first name or a nickname and some coach. Same with parents of my friends or older family friends.
  • Belly35
    Many of my coaches who are still alive I call them Coach
    Those teachers that I had it's Mr /Mrs ........ some we have become friends with an we use first name now.

    Yup. Same here. Heck, I even call my brother coach.
  • hasbeen
    Nearly all of them are Mr/Mrs or coach. There's only a handful that get a first name and that's because they make me. I still call them coach sometimes.
  • fan_from_texas
    Teachers are first name. Coaches I liked still get Coach.
  • Scarlet_Buckeye
    Teachers = Mr or Mrs/Ms
    Coach = Coach

    When in HS I addressed my coach with "Mr" and his last name. Nowadays when I see him I'll call him coach just to be nice.
    My real coach was not present at my HS teams practices.
