The worst area ..

  • Pick6
I live just south of campus. Its not bad for me because I live literally right across the street, but the further south you go, the worse it gets. Looking to move a lot closer to Cleveland... at least the Broadview Heights area to cut the commute in half, but will probably just wait until my lease expires next August.

The East End of Chillicothe is the worst area. Basically just a lot of drug activity due to being right on the rt. 23 drug pipeline. Violence isn't really much of a problem, just theft and drug dealing.

On my street alone, which isn't big, the top part near the bars are fine, nice houses, even 500k townhouses, but less than a block down it is poverty, and then public housing (which is nicer than my apartment). None of them really go to the hipster bars in the area, so there isn't much interaction, but is gets pretty seedy looking at night. Used to live in downtown cleveland, near W. 12th, and it was real bad. Welfare handouts across the street, and execution style double murder in the park across from the embassy hotel, etc. Wouldn't be caught dead walking past W 13th at night.
Pretty sure you mean E. 12th and that you're grossly exaggerating how "bad" it is beyond that incident.

Broadview Heights is a pretty decent area. Almost bought a house there during my brief marriage stint. Guy I work with lives there and I used to hit a few bars out that way a long time ago.

Far enough. I should have said the farthest Southern two streets, which are close to the rail road and cemetery, are almost all poor people.

Oldest son just transferred to WPAFB. They bought a house in Oakwood. Amazing how nice a town that is right in the middle of "Dayton". Said he knew more of his neighbors in 3 days than he did in henderson Nevada in 2 years.

I live on the very upper end of a little area that has been assumed to be kinda rough and full of worthless people....but in our 10 years I've only had about $5 in change stolen out of my car and the somewhat shady looking people that walk by on occasion (I live near a convenient mart/gas station on the main drag)....usually pretty friendly.

There isn't an area of town that isn't within a mile of "critters"

Ahh you are correct East. I'm not sure I'm "grossly" exaggerating it. The park is now nice, and anything from the front of reserve square to downtown is fine, but once you go the other way it is full of homeless people, government apartments, and police there constantly, as in daily. I never had an issue, but it definitely fits the "bad area" subject of this thread.

correct. if we are talking east, you arent exaggerating anything lol. For work, I park right next to the crazy horse near 13th and st. clair. you can def tell an immediate difference between there and downtown.

    No flack from me.

I disagree with you and Iclfan2. Over by the Crazy Horse and that Glass government building where the P00rz go to enroll in food stamps, etc. is fine. If you don't like icky poor people maybe it bothers you but it's not any more "dangerous" than Public Square. Perfectly fine to walk to the Crazy Horse at night.

Take a drive down St. Clair if you want to find a place where you don't want to walk around at night IMHO.

The apartments where Eric Howard raped that girl is probably the worst area of North Canton I'd imagine.

I used to be a bouncer at that Crazy Horse years ago and never had any issues.

Exactly, I was living right by the park during the double murder, and it wasn't too bad outside that incident. I do agree though I would never walk any further east past 13th unless I was right by the CSU campus.

Really not too many rough areas in the NW suburbs of Columbus. In terms of Greater Columbus, South Linden (the area north of 670, east of 71, south of Hudson, west of Sunbury Road) is -very- rough and dangerous for both residents and those just passing through. The area around East Main and East Livingston probably has just as high of a crime rate, but it tends to be more "professional" in terms of the participants - it's further along in the "self-cleaning oven" process.
  • sportchampps
In columbus I would go with the hilltop area for sure. the area between e main and east Livingston between Columbus and bexley is also bad.

    -Something in the city
    -Somewhere we can't get killed
-Nearby parking if that is possible
-Somewhere I can watch football and not listen to two girls gossip
Where did you end up going? I was across the river today at Keystone in Covington Ky.
