I'm not going because baseball is boring.

There are real sports on Saturday (college football), which makes me think less of everyone who is watching baseball instead of the superior sport.

    Hope this helps.

whats a good bar to do some pre-gaming??

There weren't any college football games more exciting than baseball this past weekend.

I live a sad life because I prefer superior sports? LOL Judging by the World Series viewership, the rest of the United States agrees with me.

Have fun watching one of the most boring sports in of history, second only to golf.

    Enjoy!

While it was a soft-weekend for college football:
    1) I'd rather watch any college game over a baseball game.
    and
    2) There are considerably better matchups this weekend.

cant be more boring than going on a message board and commenting with graphs on a thread about a game you are not going to in a sport you dont like....surely you have something better to do

    You do have a point.

WS ratings are way down. I think PART of it is the proliferation of baseball on TV. Serious baseball fans watch so many of their team's games on TV all year, and can watch numerous other teams on ESPN and such, that they simply get burnt out.
I admit..I really like baseball but come to the WS if it isnt a team I am really interested in I dont watch it a whole lot. They start late, run L O N G because each pitch/AB is important they drag on, and they do add extra commercial time.

My comment had nothing to do with the argument. Moreso that you get on threads that you have no interest in, just to tell them that you have no interest in the subject.

What kind of atmosphere do you like? Our favorite spot down at The Banks is Jefferson Social. It's small but they have some good stuff on tap, including a few local brews.

not real picky...good beer, good food friendly people, maybe some big screen tv's..also like non-chain local dives that have homemade burgers and 2 dollar beers or whatever. non-redneck places preferred lol dont want to get beat down when i walk in with my pirates gear lol

Nobody makes cat/Hyundai threads, so I have to jump in on something.

You won't find much of that downtown near the park.

The Yardhouse has good food. It's pricey, but good. The Holy Grail is overrated but has tons of big screens. Hofbrahaus over in Newport is a great place to eat/drink but I don't think they have many tvs. You won't run in to any problems wearing Pirates gear other than the typical ribbing.

You mean the "Man, it sucks we'll have to travel over to Pittsburgh for the wild card game in a couple days...." ribbing amirite?

I thought I had to work Friday, but I don't. So I probably will make the trip down one last time. The last two times I've been there they've lost in depressing fashion. So I apologize in advance.
As for the bar scene, last time we went to the Holy Grail. It was a good atmosphere (considering it was a Tuesday game vs the Diamondbacks) but overall an underwhelming place.

This is my general thought on Holy Grail. Always a lot of people but really not that great of a place. I guess the main draw being it is right across the street from the park.
