  At first I was thinking it was a whale placenta, but those are too tasty for sealife to really make it that far down into the ocean.

  It's been a while since I've had a delicious whale placenta. But seriously, I wouldn't be shocked if it's some delicacy for some island/fishing culture (I'm looking at you Japan).
