...nor would I have even been exposed to the list. Annapolis would not have put it on their daily "in the news" release.

Good Lord no. They would have never taken me as an Officer Candidate and student.

Then why do you have such a hard-on for the Naval Academy? Honest question.

Why does anyone have a "hard-on" for any institution?

I have an appreciation for how they do things. I have contracted with them on and off for more than 20 years now on a variety of projects and seen first hand the nature of approach.

I agree with most of what you said, except with respect to their engineering program, specifically their polymer science/engineering program. Their Polymer Science/Engineering is always either ranked 1st or 2nd in the nation (depends on the year and publication, UMass at Amherst is the other top school for it).

    This.

Some alumni ended up throwing money together to save the school. The first year or two back, Antioch was offering free tuition to students who lived on campus -- around 70 a year to pay $8,000 or so to live on campus. Not too bad a gig, if the education and time spent was worth it. It'll be interesting to see the future of the school.

I'd take an OSU, NW, and Mich grad over any on this list besides potentially Stanford.
