I guess they thought the only way to flee a country is by boat like the cubans?

A northern Arizona family that was lost at sea for weeks in an ill-fated attempt to leave the U.S. over what they consider government interference in religion will fly home Sunday.
Hannah Gastonguay says she and her husband "decided to take a leap of faith" when they took their two small children and her father-in-law then set sail from San Diego for the tiny island nation of Kiribati in May.
But just weeks into their journey the Gastonguays hit a series of storms that damaged their small boat, leaving them adrift. They were eventually picked up by a fishing vessel, transferred to a cargo ship and taken to Chile where they are resting.
Their flights home were arranged by U.S. Embassy officials. The State Department was not available for comment. -
gutSooooo.....God told them to build a boat, and then sent a storm to wreck it? Hmmmmm.......

Of course they can, but its 5,000 miles from the US to Kiribati, not the 90 most people in boats travel to the US ....and there are no restrictions to my knowledge stopping them from hopping on a plane/boat from the US to go there.ccrunner609;1485303 wrote:so people come here by the boatloads and they stay but US people cant do the same? -

They probably crunched the numbers and realized the added fees for more than 1 carry-on was going to crush their moving budget.Glory Days;1485311 wrote: ....and there are no restrictions to my knowledge stopping them from hopping on a plane/boat from the US to go there. -

goosebumpsWhat religion were they trying to practice? For crying outloud the US allows scientology to exist. I can't imagine what type of religion these people were trying to practice.
