  Saw the video this morning. Talked with the Fam earlier, hate to say it but it seems like race relations have deteriorated in the last 20 years or so, and not to take this to the political forum said relations have deteriorated much more in the last few years. My wife says it is due to the economy, and that the separation of classes is the greatest in most of our lifetimes. She may be correct, but this is outrageous. There is so much media attention on "non-troversies" that ignores reality. The Duke Lacrosse non-rape case got tons of media coverage, but the UNC student body President murder received relatively nothing.

  I don't think this has anything to do with race. White drug dealers would have been just as likely to beat his ass for snitching. Granted, one can imagine the cries from Sharpton and Jackson if that had been a lone black kid on the bus that no one defended.
  
  One thing I'd like to know is if the school administration took sufficient steps to protect this kid's anonymity, or if they basically painted a target on his back

  The action might not, but the media coverage certainly has everything to do with race. If 3 white boys beat a black kid on a school bus it would be on the front page of the NYT, and every other MSM outlet.

  That I agree with. It would be all over the liberal media, and the parents of the 3 thugs would probably be going to court.
  
  This appears to be news mainly because of the actions of the bus driver (which I have 0 issue with).

  Can the parents be legitimately (i.e. non-frivolous) sued for this? And if they can, I think that's bullshit. It's one thing if it happens at home when the parents have supervision, but I fail to see how they'd be liable unless they had prior knowledge of the beating.

  Gut you're right on point with this post. This wasn't a race issue it was an issue with a kid telling on dealers. If the kid was black he would have got his ass kicked. If they were all white the same would have happened. I think people here are trying desperately to make it a race issue and in the same breath complain about Sharpton. They're just as bad.

  Agreed, it isn't about race in the abstract, but possibly about media and political attention seekers. Again compare Duke Lacrosse, and compare it to the recent charges against 4 Vanderbilt football players (3 of which are black, the 4th is mostly white - no idea what the race of the alleged victim is). How many people even heard of the story?

  You must have not read the entire thread. When people buy into the medias agenda and start with the what ifs they are making it a race issue. When people assume that the reason that the driver didn't step in because he was black they are making it a race issue. When people think that black on white crime is acceptable they've made it about race. This particular incident had just as much to do about race as the TM incident. But the sheeple on one side bought into the media hype. Also where did I call posters racist? Or is this your failed attempt at picking a fight?
