Never been, but heard a lot of positive things about it. -

I went last year and really enjoyed it. I am not a fair expert, but the facilities seemed nice to me. There is a ton of food, decent rides, and I had fun checking out all of the animals.GoChiefs;1474972 wrote:Never been, but heard a lot of positive things about it. -

Manhattan BuckeyeGallia has Casey James (from American Idol) and Lonestar. Not the greatest, and certainly not the heyday when they had Martina McBride and Tracy Lawrence, but it is worth an $8.00 admission.

Lonestar this year? They are really good in concert and had gigantic hits. -

Saw them before and they were terrible. Thats when Cody was lead singer though. I'd imagine they are much better since Richie came back as lead singer. -

WallyI concur with the others opinion of the Mercer County Fair. One of my brother-in-laws was president of the Pork Producers and would ask my wife and I to help in their food stand. Good food and I'd eat as many free sandwiches as I could in the 4 hours I worked. Used to work in Darke County and places would shut down for the week as those people flock to that fair all week long. My Grandparents used to love the Wood County Fair when they lived in BG….

Is that the stand with the butterfly pork chops? I can kill a ton of those things. Love the sauce they put on them. think I saw their secret ingredient a few years ago though...pepsi! Darke is a pretty big fair, and I enjoy that when I go there except for those creepy old people who set up their chairs outside the grandstand and just watch people walk by. First time I saw that I stopped for a second as I thought some show or whatever was going on and they were there to watch but NOPE..just weird old people sitting and watching people walk by. SHoot me if I ever get to the point that one would think that was actually fun entertainment.Wally;1476468 wrote:I concur with the others opinion of the Mercer County Fair. HereticI loved going to the fair when I was young and living in a rural area with nothing to do, because for one week, there was something to do.
Now, if I want something to do, I'll grab some beer and head out to find my destiny for the day. And the fair just doesn't hold up as entertainment for me. Give me a free pass and I'll walk around for a bit to see what I can see, but that's about it.
