Damnit, who typed a question mark on the teleprompter? For the last time, Burgundy will read anything you put on there!

The best part is they confirmed the names with the NTSB.

Lighten up Francis, we're laughing at the stupidity of the station and the filters this had to have gone through to make it on air.

How did she read that with a straight face? Also impressive that she got the pronunciations as opposed to the comedy of the intended American mispronunciation (fOOk instead of fUHk)

I figured maybe it was a Onion report.

And LMAO, the NTSB said the approval came from "an intern acting outside the scope of their authority". I call BS, you know when that verification came thru some guy said "oh my, this is going to be a classic...we'll just blame an intern"
  • Tiernan
This anchor must be the dumbest woman in the history of broadcasting. Even if it was on the TelePrompTer no intelligent person I'd going to read those names. My God when she was a kid did she read Under The Bleachers by Seymour Butz?
  • Tiernan
Sum Yung Gi is supposedly the name of the intern that confirmed the pilot's names.

The TV station is now getting sued by Asiana Airlines...

    http://news.yahoo.com/asiana-sue-san-francisco-tv-043218547.html

And here's the kicker, the station says they are suing because the station "ruined the airlines reputation" with there racist broadcast of phony names.

I think there reputation was destroyed when the airline allowed a rookie 777 pilot fly a passenger filled plane for his first time!

I know it is not politically correct, but this is hilarious. I was in tears from laughing so hard.

Just a piece of advice, if your pilot's name is Sum Ting Wong, get the hell off the plane.

The funniest part for me is that the station was so eager to be the first to report it that no one vetted this info. Not even the guy typing it into the graphic thought "wait a minute, sum ting IS Wong here"

They DID confirm it. Just turns out they were all too stupid to figure out the NTSB was screwing with them.

When I first saw this I thought it was some joke. Once I heard that this was reported as real news I was completely shocked and dumbfounded.

+1. Thought it was going to be something to do with the Onion. Completely baffling how this actually aired.

I was reading that the airline was planning on a lawsuit. On what grounds? Hu Too Dum?

It was reported that they were going to file a suit, however they decided not to pursue it.
