How many of you eat at Golden Corral?

  • SportsAndLady
    Probably would stop doing that

What's interesting is the comments section people saying they work/did work at Golden Corral as well and they had similar practices at different locations. One video could be someone trying to misrepresent or putting that stuff out there on his own to "Get back" at someone. But with the other people posting similar experiences definitely gives credence to his story.

Thankfully I don't go to all you can eat buffets as they are garbage.

Sorry, don't buy it. It doesn't even make sense that they would put food by a dumpster for an INSPECTION. That would be an immediate fail.

    Ironman def does.

Did in high school every now and then. Havent been there in about 7 years. Will never again.

I would imagine they are "hiding" meat that they know would fail but they plan to reserve it later after the inspection is done. It's the only rationale I can think of.

Maybe it's by the dumpster because somebody is going to throw it away?

He's a cook at Golden Corral. I'm sure his knowledge of how the company runs is second to none.

I have never eaten at a Buffet Type Restaurant something about massive amount for food prepared, keep heated, replenished and feeding frenzy of poor people and their off springs just doesn’t sound appealing.

It's been a long time since I've been to a Golden Corral. I wasn't planning on going back before watching this video so it didn't really change anything for me.

I'd like to see some evidence of GC putting the ribs back in the restaurant and serving them.

edit- I don't know how restaurant inspections work but I doubt they are scheduled beforehand. Mangement wouldn't have time to "hide meat by the dumpster" like the video says.

I would imagine a restaurant inspection includes waste management. So it would be seen sitting right by the dumpster. It could be a food only type inspection though.

    I do not.

I'm sure there's a lot of iffy things restaurants do all of the time.

Golden Corral's response isn't exactly a glowing refutation of this guy's video.

To answer the question, probably the last time I was at a GC was in the late 80's, but the one near our last home in the U.S. was busy every day of the week. Buffets aren't necessarily bad, but like most things you get what you pay for. If it is a breakfast buffet at a 5 star hotel it is likely clean and safe, if not expensive. If one is paying GC rates, I wouldn't bet on quality food.

I wasn't trying to be snotty with my "I would imagine" comment, I was just saying that's the only reason I could think of for storing meat outside by a dumpster. I think you are right that it would depend on whether an inspection includes a visit to the waste management or just kitchen/dining areas only.

Maybe Sleeper could lend some insight with his vast experience from "owning" a McDonald's.

I've never stepped foot into a Golden Corral. Never planned to either.

    Never have, never will.

I haven't for years, but it's not like Golden Corral is any different than any other cheap food place. I bet they all do gross shit we wouldn't want to see.
  • DeadliestWarrior34
I'm ready for that one guy to post his story about Golden Corral.

If you want, I can at least give you the Cliffs Notes version.

    ...There was shit everywhere.

I do occasionally. I'm careful about what I eat. Part of the allure is "people watching"

    People watching is right!
Saw everything from birthday parties, grad parties and even a wedding party at one in columbus over the last few years!

    Lol.....

I first tried it in Chillicothe in the late 90's.....was not impressed and it never came close to our rotation of eateries. I had it two more times in Zanesville about 6 and 7 years ago as our girls on our softball team chose this for dinner and all the parents went along.

It is not good....it's a notch below Pondergrosa in my book.

The video has to be a rarity amongst their chain....good god that's nasty. Whoever is in charge of that GC is probably a Browns fan.

A wedding party? Damn, if I was EVER at a wedding and heard that the party/meal would be at a Golden Corral...well, when it came time for the "if anyone has any objections to these two getting married" part, I definitely would be weighing in with my opinions on things.

"These two can't get married! If they're taking US to that hellhole, imagine how shitty their lives will be together!"
