Video of police department shooting a dog

Seems to be overlooked by every board I read.GoChiefs;1467249 wrote:Except for the fact that he wasn't arrested because he was filming them. -
raiderbuckIf you could be arrested for filimg the scene, then the person who filmed the entire thing should've been arrested too. No cop is going to arrest you just for filming. You can film, but film from a distance (like everyone else) and don't be an ass to police.
If the police ask you to stop filming/talking/being an ass....guess what? Just frickin' stop. End of story.
That guy is the only guy mouthing off to the police, and for what? Why make what seemingly is a tense situation even more tense by you acting like a douchebag. I'm sorry you lost your dog sir, but it's your fault. -
ThePatriotProbably the owners fault (won't watch the vid but I've seen plenty of videos of COPS BEING IN THE WRONG when shooting a dog). Theres enough evidence out there to know don't fuck with the police if you have a dog with you and if the cops knock at your door secure your dog in a bedroom or something before answering. Or for that matter secure yourself in a bedroom and DON'T answer as I've read reports of cops entering the wrong home and shooting innocent people.
That said, can't you just pepper spray a dog for Christ's sake?
Moral of the story: People are idiots and cops are people too. -

Disagree with this. If you're not breaking any laws, don't be a sheep.raiderbuck;1467344 wrote:If the police ask you to stop filming/talking/being an ass....guess what? Just frickin' stop. End of story. -
Fab1bWhat I got from this was the police were on an active investigation of an armed robbery in the area. They asked the guy to turn down his music so they could hear what was going on in the area. Really to much to ask? So this guy then decides to go all fuck the police, this is my radio, my music, blah blah blah. How the fuck are the cops in the wrong here?
Forget about the cops here for a sec. If this guy was on my street I wouldn't want to hear his music up loud either. (I've never understood thinking you have the right to play your music at any level you'd wish either)! Common courtesy asshole! -

Respecting the request of a law enforcement official is not "being a sheep". When did this disdain for authority figures begin? :huh:iclfan2;1467478 wrote:Disagree with this. If you're not breaking any laws, don't be a sheep. -

iclfan2It's not disdain, it's just knowing your rights. You don't have to comply with everything a cop says, they've been known to bend the truth to get you to comply with their wishes. There has been numerous instances of them illegally confiscating cell phones. Fwiw, I usually am on the side of the cops in most of the beating discussions on here.

Those same policies and laws that give you those rights, also give a police officer the right to detain you if they see you as a threat or problem. Why give an officer reason to even approach you? You can talk all you want, film all you want, but respect the officers as they do their job.iclfan2;1467516 wrote:It's not disdain, it's just knowing your rights. Manhattan BuckeyeTerrible, ironic it is around the same period of time where the UVA student was assaulted by officers for buying bottled water at a Harris Teeeter in Charlottesville.
These clowns tried to break into her car's windows, and jumped on the hood and even flashed a gun....but according to some "Respecting the request of a law enforcement official is not "being a sheep"." Even if it is illegal.

Good call.
It gets thrown out of court every single time, but plenty of cops have arrested plenty of people for recording their public activities. -
Benny The JetA few of my friends and I got into a pretty good argument about this last night. The one was saying how a grown man would be able to fight off a rot and shouldn't think first to shoot it. I completely disagree. If that dog comes out me in an aggressive way, I'd shoot it too. All it takes is for it to knock me down and get a hold of my neck and it's pretty much done. My other thought was, even if it just bites me on the arm, it's still going to be put down in the long run anyways.

Damn, cc, you're making sense...wtf's going on here!!!ccrunner609;1467758 wrote:I am glad that most people on here are seeing it the proper way.....the dog got shot cause the owner is a idiot. -

I'm surprised the dog owners on here have no criticism for the way the cop handled that. I watched the video a few times, and the cop quickly draws his gun and approaches the dog in an aggressive manner - after the first excited lunge, the cop quickly goes for the leash and the dog reacts defensively. That will normally provoke the reaction he got, but especially when the dog is already confused/frightened/excited.Benny The Jet;1468027 wrote:A few of my friends and I got into a pretty good argument about this last night. If he doesn't know how to approach/handle that dog, he might as well have not even bothered and just shot it right away. He will provoke that response nearly every time and end up shooting it in defense.
