I get what the guy meant about Brand being hard to understand. It's not the accent, it's like someone chopped-up a Mike Ditka commentary and re-arranged it to make even less sense.

I understood it easily. I think the video proves if you throw these so called journalist off script, they have no clue what to think other than what is written for them. I think Brand is funny. I have listened to him quite a few times on Howard Stern and he has always been funny.

I thought he was typically all over the place (hard to follow as opposed to hard to understand). Maybe he "hijacked" his own interview because their lack of preparation so offended him. I don't know, but I think he was just being his typical zany self.

He got so distracted he spent all of like 15 seconds actually promoting what he was there for. Dude was funny in forgetting Sarah Marshall. His talk show might be the most unwatchable thing on tv.

That was 8 minutes of my life I won't get back.

Perhaps the 200 people that actually watch MSNBC might care about Russell's accent (which is very easy to follow) or the chick in the blue dress drinking while Brand just yaps.

The whole thing was stupid. Brand's spontaneous "joke" with the people in the background fell completely flat. It didn't work, and what we saw was a few more minutes of a bunch of uninteresting people being uncomfortable.

Correct, and he it appears he did it because his joke didn't work. If the MSNBC guy would have been more astute he should have asked Brand "so when you do stand-up, and a joke gets no response, how do you deal with it?".

Yea I am sorry that when I said destroy that when you watched the video he did not wipe them out of existence or crush them into oblivion.

I should edit the title to say "Russell Brand tries to make joke about how news anchors are not doing there job and news anchors get nervous and have no clue what to do next"

I don't know, from the video trying to make a joke might be sort of accurate description. At the 3 minute mark he's fidgety and tries to make some sort of joke about the people in the background, and it landed harder than a lead balloon. Brand was just as uncomfortable as the news people afterwards.

Not to mention, he makes several rude/offensive comments. And so while the anchors may have failed to maintain their professionalism, they didn't lose their cool. Heck, they even asked him for a little "preview" of his routine and he responds something along the lines of "no freebies - you'll have to buy a ticket". Mostly he hijacked his own interview and they just let him do his own thing.

Personally I think Russell Brand is just an unfunny ass. But to each their own.

Russell Brand: I think he is zany, but is feeling threatened by the "comedy" monicker. He has convictions - one he discussed was the template/story line that the media uses to push an agenda. He backs that up with the line about his clothes being superficial and unnecessary; the real issue is what he is saying. If he is JUST a comedian, these points are lost for the sake of funniness.

The anchors: who starts an interview with "I have no clue who you are but..."??? And whoever mentioned getting them off script is right on. Russell (don't call him "he") had something to say, but they were going to plow ahead with what they had discussed in the green room during rehearsal. Russell, I assume, knew that and committed to being the wrench in their gears to prove a point.

All that to say, tl;dr.
