If you had to go thru Middle School with the name Dick Trickle you would have eventually killed yourself too.

My senior year I took a drama class. 3 of us were doing a skit and one of the guys we named Dick Trickle. When I said his name in the skit, the teacher stopped us, and told us all go to the office. We had to get online and prove it was a legit name to her. Lol

That seems like a pretty unusual age to kill yourself. I guess I just haven't heard of many 70-year-olds shooting themselves in the head, but I am sure it happens all the time.

It's extremely sad, but maybe he just felt that his best years were behind him and didn't want to live at that age any longer. As somebody who doesn't care to see 60 -- I say that now, but I'm sure my mind will change if I ever make it to that age -- I do get why he might have felt that way. Watching my Dad and grandparents get old is tough.

    I believe he had cancer

A likely cause could have been Alzheimer's disease. Suicidal tendencies are very high with people diagnosed with that.

It's amazing that he called it in himself before he did it.

A friend of mine from high school had the coolest grandpa growing up. He was just a really good guy and I knew him pretty well, having spent a lot of time at his home, where my friend lived for a time, and attending sporting events with them and things like that. That friend has long since moved away, but his grandpa still lives here. Seeing him today, however, is gut-wrenching, as he has Alzheimer's and has absolutely no idea that he once knew you. I honestly hope I never see him again. I'd rather remember him for who he was and not as some stranger who walked right past me in the supermarket.

I think he may have stolen that from Seven Pounds. That is one of the greatest scenes in movie history. Will Smith literally killed it in that scene.

He probably remembers you but acts like he doesn't so he doesn't have to talk to you.
