Bar Rescue

GblockSo over the weekend flipping channels i watched a little bit of this show and they were in Fairfield county which i guess is near cinci. the bar was called win, place, or show and they changed it to
American Live BBQ or something. I went to their facebook and there was a statement about that they ended up closing anyway due to what sounded like a combination of legal and financial problems.
anyway anyone from that area ever go there or have any info? -
TedShecklerFairfield is near Cincinnati.
Fairfield County is adjacent to your county. (Lancaster)
Geography fail. -
Gblockwasnt sure which one it was like i said i was flipping channels

raiderbuckI wonder what's the percentage of bars that stay open after the remodel? I mean, those people are in financial trouble for a reason. They can't run a frickin' bar, and I doubt three days with Taffer is going to fix years of stupid business decisions.
-
SnotBubblesChances are if an establishment is in bad shape, no "rescue" is going to keep it open for long.
Take "Kitchen Nightmares" for example (Gordon Ramsey's show). It's something like 80% of those places close after he leaves anyway.
Having a TV show try to come fix something that's broken is the kiss of death. -

yea i just googled about the show and it seems that most of the bars close anyway. it also seems that a lot of the bars go back to what they were doing before. which is crazy because it clearly wasnt working...it also seems like some people are saying that a lot of things are staged.raiderbuck;1440056 wrote:I wonder what's the percentage of bars that stay open after the remodel? I live in Fairfield and I've been to that place on several occasions back when it was Happy's then became Charlie's Throttle Stop. (from about 2001 to 2007). A real Dive bar as Happy's and more of a Biker bar when it was Charlie's Throttle Stop.Gblock;1440014 wrote:So over the weekend flipping channels i watched a little bit of this show and they were in Fairfield county which i guess is near cinci. the bar was called win, place, or show and they changed it to

From what I understand America Live was still behind on their rent, but business was up and they were slowly catching up on it. Another person talked to the owner of the building about renting it and starting a different bar/business. The building owner deceided to lock out the America Live owners in order to work with this new person, justifying it since they were behind on their rent. The employees still had thier personal belonging inside the building and he wouldn't even let them retrieve the items. Not sure if they ever recovered their items or not.
The new person pretty much started another remodel, tearing out much of what the Bar Rescue people installed. (I know, WTF ???) Then I guess they ran out of money and stopped everything. (Karma ???)
The building is currently sitting empty. I never got a chance to vist there when it was America Live.
On a side note, I'm not sure why they said there are 2 Military bases close by. Wright Patt is in Dayton and about 30-45 minutes away. I guess the other one he was talking about was Fort Knox in Louisville, about 1 1/2 hours away...lol. I know they wanted to do a Military side since the owner was in the Navy at one time. -
ts1227All of these Bar Rescue/Restaurant Impossible places end up failing.
It's a mix of them being beyond repair when they show up, then they all revert to original practices immediately after the show because they're too fucking stupid and worried about appeasing the "regulars", and have no desire for any actual new business.
"Regulars" in a hole in the wall place like on these shows are generally old people or mooching trash who sit there all day and buy nothing but coffee, and/or come all the time because its so cheap (even though its shitty). In most cases they're selling the "regular" the shit at a loss because they're too stupid to price their menu, and they're gaining no new customers because no normal person will eat/drink the slop at any price -

yea but i guess i didnt realize that while they are in town they close the bar and only their people are let in. or for example he is saying why is no one out on your patio its not being used right, but yet the episode is filmed in february and who the hell would be on patio in feb, stuff like that.Iliketurtles;1440068 wrote:You mean things on a reality tv show are staged! You mean when he sends his wife in to scout out the place and he has his hidden cameras all over the bar to watch everything.....is staged? No way!Gblock;1440060 wrote:it also seems like some people are saying that a lot of things are staged. -

ok thanks thats what i was wondering. the tv's alone that were added to that bar along with some decent bbq should have been enough to make it an ok bar compared to what they were working with and that guy who wanted to "rock out" with his $hit bandCurly J;1440069 wrote:I live in Fairfield and I've been to that place on several occasions back when it was Happy's then became Charlie's Throttle Stop.
