Anyone Deposit Checks Using Your Phone?

  • sherm03
I have a few checks that I need to deposit (issues with direct deposit at work has them sending us our paychecks for awhile), but I have no way to get to the bank.

I noticed that on the PNC mobile application, they now have the ability to deposit your check through the app, but I'm nervous that it's going to fuck up.

Anyone ever done it? Did you have any issues with it?

I use Bank of America's app to deposit checks, never had any issue with it. Easy to use.

Was just going to ask what you do with the actual check.

We keep them for a few days too. Then shred them.

Usually shred it 3 days latter. Have done 20-30 no problems

Use it all the time, its great. I've been with PNC since I was 8 yrs old, didn't want to switch banks when I moved. Mobile Deposit made it so I don't have to.

Roommate uses PNC and has never had any problems with it.

Some apps, or some banks, limit you to checks below $1000.

Alternatively, if you can find a PNC ATM you might be able to deposit the check there.

    Cool. Good to know.

    Thanks all.

Yup. I do it all the time with Chase and PNC.

Just make sure its not a stand alone atm..has to be linked up to an actual PNC.

And yeah, mobile check deposits is where its at.

I guess I could have my wife drive me up to an ATM after she gets off work. But I was trying to avoid that altogether and just use the Mobile App.

Same here. I've been doing it for a long time and have never had a single problem.

We like to drive to the bank deposit with a teller we know and keep the relationship with the people, waste gas ... on the flip side we keep the bank teller employed, gas station attendent employed, provide the city, state with additional sales tax, help employ the oil and gas industies ... hope this helps

Off-Topic. You shouldn't have clicked the thread if you didn't have any advice for depositing checks via a smartphone.

    Hope this helps.

But, if you use the app, you're keeping the app developers employed, the IT guys employed, keeping the cell phone employees employed and paying plenty of taxes on your cell bill.

    Hope this helps.

Get ride if it safely so you don't accidently try to deposit it again.
