Spirit Airlines

    Discount airlines = crap.

Spirit is among the worst. Not sure if it is the worst, I think RyanAir might deserve that (dis)honor.

Travelers with a brain know that Spirit is simply tacking on hidden fees and that they are going to be paying the same as a flight with American Airlines regardless (for the most part).

There are many travelers, though, who leave their brains at home when they travel and believe they are really getting a great deal. Of course, you could also just pack accordingly and not take a carry-on.
Damn Rec..just shit all over me why don't you lol

J/k..I mean I did pretty much drop $500 (it was 2 tickets) without even doing any investigating. Simply had to buy it at that exact second and didn't really think twice about it--pick the cheapest flight I can.

It's all good though, I'm not going to shit on Spirit until they actually do annoy/piss/fuck me. Which will be next week..so I'll be back for updates haha.

LOL. I honestly had completely forgotten this thread was about you. Obviously I wasn't directing my "travelers without brains" quote in your direction. Haha.

If in the end, you really do save money -- and you definitely can -- and you have a good experience, then it's all good. As you can see from my posts, I've flown with them many times in the past. I just had some bad experiences personally, so I won't again. But, as you said, until you experience that, I would keep an open mind about them.

Spectacular. Flying out to Vegas Thursday.

Anyone have experince with Virgin Airlines? Flying them to Boston in a few weeks-
  • georgemc80
We got great deals from Houston to Vegas. 70 bucks round trip. So my wife and I took a day trip. Left Houston about 10:30 pm. Leaving Vegas the next night at 12:30 am. We researched. Brought everything we needed in my wife's purse. So no fees. Well the plane was three hours late leaving Houston. And it was three hours Kate leaving Vegas. We just about missed the noon kickoff of the colts texans.

The plane was awful. No legroom. Seemed dirty and old.

Some woman tried reclining and told her it wasn't going to happen. I told her I don't let people recline even on nice planes.

Nice price. Awful experience. I'm not sure I would do it again.

So we checked both our bags today...70 bucks round trip for each. Checked and there are no delays today and tomorrow morning is supposed to be sunny at O'hare. Here's to just having no leg room and no other problems :/

So what did that $70 get you? A checked bag, carry on and "personal item"?

One checked bag per person. We get a "personal item" which will be my book and for her, her purse to bring onto the plane.

LULZ at thinking their delays are weather related. Its usually a late crew, plane issues, crews who are on another flight and are delayed, etc. All 3 of my delays (in 4 trips) were NOT weather related.

This thread is about Spirit Airlines. If you want to talk about Virgin Airlines, please start another thread. Thank you.

If you get a carry on and personal item at no charge, the $25-30/bag charge each way round is pretty standard.

I've got it down though, I can pretty much last a week with a carryon and backpack. That's just on a vaca/pleasure trip though, lugging work clothes would probably be harder.

Also, I always hear Virgin was supposedly top notch? I thought that was common knowledge?
  • Laley23
You only get a personal for free. Checked baggage and carry-on bag both have fees.
  • Automatik
    Well that's horseshit!

    Not your decision.

I signed up for a Southwest Chase card and I get 50,000 bonus points or some shit for spending $2000 in the first three months. Should be enough for at least 1.5 RT flights virtually anywhere in the US.

I've flown before, just not in the past 10-15 years.

    Is Southwest worth a damn?

Southwest is very nice. They go almost anywhere (though not always direct). I think they had the highest customer ratings last year.

Southwest seems to have the nicest planes of the major carriers. Although they only fly to something like 90 cities, I think.

I believe they partner with Jet Blue too. I remember looking on their website for a flight and it redirected me to Jet Blue.

I have flown with Southwest several times and it was always a good experience. I have actually never had a truly bad flight and/or customer service issue, and I have used three or four different airlines. Either I am lucky, or I just don't get angry/upset/disappointed easily.

No I don't think it has anything to do with weather. Im just saying it helps that its not thunderstorming. We did call to make sure there weren't any planned delays and there doesn't seem to be any at the moment. So that's a start.

Did you read the first few posts? Not being a dick just seeing if you saw them...spirit charges for carry on bags. Found this out after I bought the tickets. So I was either going to pack incredibly light and pack everything in a bookbag or just check a bag. I just decided to check the bag and my girlfriends too. She'll have a purse she can bring on for free BLESS YOU FOR THE KINDNESS, SPIRIT

Being fat isn't an excuse to change what someone else does. There are no signs that tell you to ask the person behind you. If it was your decision, the button would be on your seat.
