FRIENDS returns in 2014?

  • Ironman92
Hard to believe they'd all come back after what? 10 years?

Less hard to believe when you review their filmographies. The only one that made it after Friends is Jennifer Aniston.

I think this would be a tremendous mistake. They left basically on top. Friends wasn't my thing, but many consider it to be a GOAT show, or at least in the conversation. It's definitely not the GOAT -- Seinfeld is and always will be -- but Friends was really well done and funny, but I just didn't care about it.

If it happens, this will be akin to Michael Jordan coming back to play for the Wizards. The second act will pale by comparison.

They're all coming back for the massive paychecks.

I haven't looked it up but Matthew Perry's hasn't been that bad has it? I think he's been in a few movies and shows. Obviously not at the level of Aniston but still pretty decent. Courtney Cox also has a nice show in Cougar Town that's lasted like 5 years.

But yeah I can't remember any of the others really staring in anything.

They have all been in stuff, but I think their best "other" stuff was still during Friends.

David Schwimmer was great in 6 days 7 nights
  • Laley23
Schwimmer is probably raking it in with syndication money from friends and then all the Madagascar stuff.

I am seeing reports that it is not true. Anyway, a come back season, won't even be as good as Curb Your Enthusiasm's Seinfeld reunion episodes.
  • Ironman92
They don't need any money...no way.

They could be pretty darn bored and maybe they had a really good time working together and doing the show.

Yeah....."NBC confirms" doesn't solidify anything, but at least made it believable for me.

Why are you hating on the Cosby Show?

Between the Cosby Show, Friends, and Seinfeld, I feel I never have to watch another sitcom again.

Survivorman isn't a sitcom, but I'll watch the heck out of it!!!

Seems like their careers are all in the toilet, but not horribly so. They've done more than you think, that is except for Joey and Phoebe.

My first thought was "reboot" with new actors. Not sure how the concept works with some of the actors well into their 40's. Besides, I think it ended with Chandler and Monica moving to the 'burbs with their baby.

NBC must be boned and need cash. They've been going down hill for years. Is this the move before they raise the white flag?
  • Laley23
Matt LeBlanc has a show on Showtime that does pretty well.

But yeah, NBC needs the show. I think they make more money from syndication of Seinfeld and Friends than anything they put out new lol

Because I wasn't alive when it was on TV? (Well, I was, but I was like five when it went off air.)

Certainly not hating on Cosby -- it's a good show -- but IMO it's nowhere near the level of Seinfeld. They are just two entirely different types of shows.

Amazing really - they were the king for a good long time. Was 30 Rock on NBC - because the few times I watched they were always taking shots about how the network was floundering.

Anyway, I think the reason FX and USA seem to be doing well is they aren't afraid to take a risk on a show. Although maybe their required return is lower because they get money from all the cable providers.

Obviously Seinfeld was genius, but it's still even harder to be a good family-oriented comedy. Heck, isn't the family sitcom virtually extinct?

NBC needs to get the NBA back pronto. They -- and the NBA -- better hope they can snag it when the NBA's TV rights are up for grabs in 2016. I am fully convinced that the NBA's flailing overall ratings over the last 10 years compared to their heyday in the 1990s is 100% a result of ABC's terrible coverage/promotion/general ineptitude. Nobody could convince me otherwise.

The NBA on NBC was the GOAT. The NBA on ABC is a fucking joke.

only worse news would be Seinfeld coming back

Did 30 Rock go off air?

NBA is still doing pretty well on primetime Thursday. Parks and Rec is the best sitcom on network television and The Office is still pretty good, although this is the final year of the show so NBC will need to start lining up replacements for the loss of, arguably, the best sitcom of the last decade.

I bet Clark Kellogg could convince you.

I think that poor ratings are more because the nba game is getting harder and harder to watch....piss poor product.
