That's what I was thinking. One of those preemptive "no matter who did it and how it happened, this has to be spun to fit into what we want politically" sort of posts, so IF the bomber actually fits that description to any degree, they can say it's a big conspiracy because that secret Internet post said so. And if it doesn't work out like in that post, well, it'll fall between the cracks without a trace and everyone will forget about it.

This whole situation is fucked up beyond belief. The media with Sandy Hook and now this is making themselves look like complete idiots. They need to be held accountable. One station says this, the other station contradicts them. Report the facts please.

If they just ID'ed the guy and already made an arrest, that would be very impressive. I mean how could they find him that quick? Would the bomber really stick around?
  • tk421
No arrest made, media jumps the gun again. CNN has people on phone who say authorities say they have a suspect they are trying to ID, no arrest made.
  • ptown_trojans_1
    So no arrest?
Good lord, What we've got here is failure to communicate....

I have read that the security footage from Lord and Taylor, which is across the street from the 2nd explosion site, has been the most helpful. I believe that info came from the mayor's spokesperson.

Indeed the government is simultaneously an example of grossly incompetent and inefficient administration while able to successfully pull off incredibly complex, clandestine acts of impropriety.

Wow, not just NY post but entire news media failing hard.

Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be so bad if we just had to wait until the 6 o'clock news to hear what happened during the day...
  • ou1980
    Nope...No arrests made yet.

Those don't conflict. Some parts of the government are highly effective without being efficient.

If the person or person who did this were muslim, wouldn't we see news footage of muslims in the Middle East celebrating the successful attack. That's the standard MO for these things, Al Jazera would have none stop coverage.
  • Midstate01
Listening to the backtracking on CNN has been comedy. They immediately start blaming others.

Yes, all muslims in the Middle East hate America...
  • TedSheckler
I can't believe they had him and let him go.

This really just is another example of the internet and 24 hours news cycle leading to an emphasis of being first over accuracy...

They ALWAYS blame others when they make an error. It's pretty funny

It really is asinine. But there is no reason for them to change, people are hungry to consume the news first, accuracy be damned. Sad.

    Yup. News priorities:
    1) Ratings, readership, webhits
    2) Ad revenue (see #1)
    147) Accuracy

If the bomber is still in the United States I would be surprised
