Anyone ever foster an animal?

Crimson streakI got my dog from a pet shop in alliance when I was at mount union. Someone found the 4 puppies from the litter near a dumpster and turned them into the pet shop. He is the most loving dog. Sometimes too loving lol. He thinks he's a 60 pound lap dog. I think I ended up paying 70 bucks for him because they have him all his shots. I almost ended up with his brother too. Luckily my fiancés friend saw him and wanted him. I think he is the only dog that actually liked to play with mine haha

SonofanumpI hope those are your wife's lime green 5lbs dumbbells. Even you should be doing more than that.

The Wife and I talked about fostering or even adopting an older dog once our Mutt passes. (she was adopted and just turned 15). So many people won't adopt older dogs, but I 'd love to get one to make sure it would have a great life in it's later years. -

Which pet shop in Alliance? There's one where we got a kitten that died 3 days after we got it. Was supposedly a purebred persian but we were skeptical. I had to fight with them but they refunded my money.Crimson streak;1419938 wrote:I got my dog from a pet shop in alliance when I was at mount union. 8x10 Wool carpet good quality purchase at TJ MAX or Marshall maybe ( Pier One but you’re cheap)justincredible;1419666 wrote:My wife and I have joined a Schnauzer rescue organization and got our first foster today. We already have two dogs so it will probably be hectic for a while but it seems like it should be a pretty cool way to help out.
Anyway, here's Desi. He's 8 1/2 years old. His previous owner died and her husband didn't want the dog so he just gave him up. The dog was "lost" but we wonder if the husband didn't just say "fuck it" and let him loose.

Baskets: Target, I think. But they aren't cloth lined. The big one on the right is just full of blankets.
TV stand: Pier One
Hardwood floors: original white oak floors that we had refinished after moving in.
Room size: 12x15 sounds about right -
justincredibleThe first night went well. The guy is awesome sleeping in his crate. Went right in and didn't make a peep. My wife got up to go do yoga at 5:30am and he stirred but didn't bark or whine. He was fine until she got home and let all three dogs outside at 7am. Feeding all of them was a nightmare but I was still in bed so I didn't have to deal with it. It will be my turn tomorrow morning.
He's been "marking" all over the house but I know he'll grow out of that soon. He loves sitting on the couch with you while you pet him. But once you stop he lets you know that he's not done yet. He's also a barker but he isn't annoying about it. -
justincredibleBumping to mention that we are adopting the dog.

Thanks. My wife assumed she'd be the one to break down and want to adopt. I agreed. We were both wrong. It's nice having a dog that likes me more than her.hasbeen;1464243 wrote:Good stuff. Congratulations and happy for the dog. Found a good home. -

You're absolutely right. I've been fighting the urge to go get a puppy boxer to bring home with my GF's beagle because it annoys me when the beagle chooses her over me. It's always nice having "your" dog.justincredible;1464248 wrote:Thanks. My wife assumed she'd be the one to break down and want to adopt. I agreed. We were both wrong. Fly4FunMy sister fosters 1 cat at a time. She had 4 different cats within the first 2 months as they were all adopted within a week or two of her getting them. But the latest cat that she has, she's had for over 2 months now, I'm starting to think she just might adopt this one and stop fostering.
From the sounds of the pets she fostered it sounds like most were abused or had some kind of health issue to begin with, but the nice part about fostering is that the clinic you're helping pays for all the medical bills anyways so you just have to deal with any potential messes made. The current cat is kind of humorous though; it has balance issues, so it tends to fall while walking or sometimes while sitting. Other than that it's healthy. -
