Google on Easter

ThePatriotI'm not sure that Jesus' historicity is a "well confirmed historical fact". It's the mainstream amongst scholars but I don't view it as well confirmed. I happen to accept that he is most likely a historical figure, though I do think the lack of evidence from outside the gospels is odd and I believe much of whats written is mythology interjected into his biography sometime well after his death. I wouldn't be floored if it was someday discovered that his existence was a myth. But again, at this point I'm with the mainstream.
As for the topic at hand, I think Christians are in the process of what is a rude awakening for them. That awakening is a move toward a society that is openly secular. For instance, I think it is telling that 81% of my generation (I'm 30) supports gay marriage. That's an example off the top of my head that the younger we get the less we, as a nation, will center our lives around a Religion.
The intolerance and exclusiveness of Christianity is their undoing and they are having a hard time with the realization that they are not the center of the universe. This google thing today is a perfect example. Google is under no obligation to recognize their holiday. No one says a word when their page ignores other religious holidays. But Christians have to blow it up into some huge deal, as is their modus operandi.
We are in the midst of a modern day Exodus as people flee from the church and it's for reasons like this. They want to attract younger folks to their congregation but with so many receiving higher education it's hard to scare people into believing the superstitions and when you have to believe and then be so exclusive on top of that it sends people scurrying in the opposite direction. Then to boot, you know when you visit on Sunday you'll be amongst these kinds of crazies who are outraged at google, etc. no thanks.
I find it more sad for than anything now that so many people base their whole existence, trying to shape, not only own lives, but our society and others lives, based on some ancient fairy tail. And in they end they lived a life of narrow-minded exclusion for nothing. They'll lay dead in the ground. So you were a bigot for nothing when it's all said and done.
Sorry for the novel. I've been keeping that inside for a few days, lol. -

That's the bottom line.fan_from_texas;1417469 wrote:Regardless of whether they do an Easter theme, it seems like pretty poor taste to honor Chavez
But Google, from top to bottom, is well known for being VERY liberal. Hence the idiotic support for Chavez as some great leader. -

lol, yep. Looks like one of those things that only matters to the lowest common denominator.friendfromlowry;1417697 wrote:So ccrunner and Tiernan are the ones who care....Hmmm....
I don't care about Easter (just another meaningless holiday -- and I don't even get a day off from work for it, either), so the thought of people caring enough to "boycott" Google over it or go off on rants and stuff makes me chuckle.

Best part is, 90% of those people will boycott Google as a search engine...yet will still use GMail, G+, etcHeretic;1418585 wrote:lol, yep. Looks like one of those things that only matters to the lowest common denominator.

I do. Most of my nerdy college friends still use it regularly. They actually coordinated a birthday event for this weekend with it.ernest_t_bass;1418758 wrote:Who still uses G+?
They have categories of stuff you can follow (ESPN, cbssports, tech stuff). It's like twitter/facebook had sex and this was it's spawn. You can get information from friends, as well as various categories (cirlces) of people. -

Agreed completely. And like you said it's not the codes of Christianity but the intolerance conveyed by a few.ThePatriot;1417826 wrote:As for the topic at hand, I think Christians are in the process of what is a rude awakening for them. -
