Mad Men - Season Six

  • Fab4Runner
Premiers on April 7th. Anyone else excited?

My main hope is that the old Don is back this season. I miss the lying, cheating, philandering Don Draper.

Also, how is it possible that Vincent Kartheiser (Pete) is actually marrying Alexis Bledel (Crazy Beth) in real life? He just creeps me out, which is a testament to his acting ability.

Pete does look like a doucher in that photo. HUGE MadMen fan until season 5. Season 5 was a major disappoint and I lost interest. Doubt I'll watch season 6.

I fell off after Roger ate acid. I need to watch the last few before this.

I loved that show when I first started watching season 1 on Netflix. I was hooked.

Yeah sadly I think the show jumped the shark and is time to end it.

Disagree. Last season was great. I really thought Vincent Kartheiser should've been nominated for an Emmy. The whole season was like Pete's coming out party. He was a douche, but I still liked his character. He so badly wants to be Don Draper.

Highlights of last season: Lane's suicide, whoring out Joan to that fat dude to land the Jaguar account, and Pete's fight with Lane. I thought those were pretty good plot lines.

On the other hand, I thought Peggy's departure couldn't have been any less anticlimatic. I hope the writers develop her character is a real player with the rival firm. Peggy leaving should have been the plot line in an episode by itself. Instead, the writers put it in with the Joan/Jaguar episode.

Yeah, I agree it is not as it once was. It it still a very good show. It is still my favorite show. (Been a fan since the pilot)
But, it just seems to be entering the part of the 60s we all know when we think of the 60s, the late 60s. And because of that, there is so much to try and pack in. That seems to dilute it. But, so far, it has seemed cheezy-the acid trip being the greatest example.
The one example where it did work was when Don played the song from Rubber Soul.

I do hope the old Don is back. Megan is a weak character, and Don was starting to get boring.
But, my fear is they start throwing in more and more of the 67-68 history stuff and that just takes over the show, whether it is protests, race riots, civil unrest, youth movement, etc.

To me, this is the make or break it season.

So you're saying there is another show starting back up besides Game of Thrones? Who knew?

Why the hell do they show Betty Draper so much? Drags the whole show down.

Good to see the old Don back. There were a ton of subtle throwbacks to the first season.
    Not bad overall.

Thoughts on tonight? No Betty Draper at all was tremendous, the Trudy/Pete stuff was great, and not sure what else to say about Don Draper that hasn't been said. Very good episode IMO.

I missed the last five minutes of the first episode and I was not able to watch last night, so I will be catching up this evening.

So far my thoughts are that Don Draper is still the hottest man alive, Fat Betty is now slightly less fat, but still needs to get back to being skinny, cunty Betty and I still hate Megan.

So I finally watched the end of the premiere, and it turns out I had missed close to ten minutes, not just five. I am obviously really glad I watched it, because it was amazing to see the old, cheating, womanizing, man whore Don back. Love him. I also realized that the woman he is banging is Samantha from Grandma's Boy, so that's fun.

Looking forward to watching the second episode ASAP.
