The use of the words "hater," "enemy," and "evil"
-
O-TrapI see more and more people using these terms to describe other people they don't get along with (or who don't get along with them ... or both, hell, I don't know).
Am I in the minority to think that if you believe people hate you and are your enemy, you probably think of yourself as more important to others than you are?
Maybe it's just me, but my opinion of someone's grip on the reality of their relationship with others goes down substantially when they show that they believe that other regular people hate them, are their enemy, and fit some special definition of evil. -

It certainly shows a lack of perspective if a person just dismisses those who disagree with them as a hater. It doesn't acknowledge the fact that people can have differing opinions for very legitimate reasons.O-Trap;1401766 wrote:I see more and more people using these terms to describe other people they don't get along with (or who don't get along with them ... or both, hell, I don't know).

But there are exceptions to the rule and sometimes a person really is just being a "hater."

I thought it merited further discussion.GOONx19;1401867 wrote:Wasn't mentioning this in the first thread enough? -
GOONx19Am I in the minority to think that if you believe your own post, more than any of the other posts included in three pages of discussion on a prior thread, merits further discussion, you probably think of yourself as more important to others than you are?
Maybe it's just me, but my opinion of someone's grip on the reality of their relationship with others goes down substantially when they show that they believe that their opinions deserve an individual thread on a message board, which when created goes nowhere in terms of discussion. -

Ya, heaven forbid someone try to start a discussion on a message board.GOONx19;1402102 wrote:Am I in the minority to think that if you believe your own post, more than any of the other posts included in three pages of discussion on a prior thread, merits further discussion, you probably think of yourself as more important to others than you are?

I didn't say I believed it more than anyone else's. I would think, though, that people on forums worldwide tend to start topics on their own thoughts as opposed to the thoughts of others.GOONx19;1402102 wrote:Am I in the minority to think that if you believe your own post, more than any of the other posts included in three pages of discussion on a prior thread, merits further discussion, you probably think of yourself as more important to others than you are?

It was merely a tangent in another thread, and I thought maybe there were different perspectives on here that were worth hearing on that tangent. Granted, I stated my own, purely because I know it better than I know others' ... which is why I asked for others' perspectives within the original post. I'm genuinely interested in seeing whether or not others thinks very differently or very similarly.
If the topic goes nowhere, then obviously it's less relevant to others, which is fine. I just thought I'd bring it up in the event that it might not be.
I did appreciate the parallel between the OP and your post, by the way.
