You completely skipped the other part of my post, where I said she is also many other things in addition to "happy". I am not a parent, but mine have told me literally hundreds of times that their greatest wish for me in life is to be happy. I have a very hard time believing that it will be any different if I ever have children of my own. Would I like them to accomplish big things? Sure. That would be awesome. But if they are miserable and unhappy while doing so...no, thank you.OSH;1400602 wrote:I honestly do not like hearing, "just as long as they are happy" talk.
There are a lot of things that make people happy that aren't "right." There is a lot more to life than being "happy." Pursuing happiness is so selfish. It is easy to attain in short bursts, and that means it is temporary. I want my kids to have purpose with their lives. To mean something. To value life and others. To make an impact.
There is so much pain in life, but the pleasure comes through pain. Every kid rides a bike and it makes them "happy." But, when they learn to ride, fall, scrape their knees, etc. they aren't happy. When they accomplish something through pain and trouble, they find purpose and meaning. I hope my kids find meaning in life that goes beyond a temporary feeling. -

Apologies. You completely cropped out the rest of my description of my sister, where I said she is many other things in addition to being happy.OSH;1400612 wrote:No. I read your post. -

Couldn't agree more, but it has nothing to do with sexual preference.OSH;1400602 wrote:I want my kids to have purpose with their lives. To mean something. To value life and others. To make an impact.

Dr Winston O'BoogieI believe I would accept my son or daughter just the same. It may not be my first choice for him/her only because I would not wish them the undue burden that may or may not exist. I have a daughter that I love more than anything in this world. If she turned out to be gay, I would still love her that much.

I just get annoyed at the "happy" talk all the time. I cut out the rest of it because I only wanted to focus on the "happy" talk. -

I'd probably make a thread on the OC and ask for other peoples opinions because I lack the critical thinking to make a rational decision by myself.SnotBubbles;1400528 wrote:How would YOU handle it? -
hasbeenI would raise them to be better than a gay cripple.

dlazzI don't understand how hard it is. You shouldn't even need to ask the question posed in the thread. Your son or daughter is your son or daughter. You shouldn't have to change the way you act around your kids, regardless of their sexual orientation. They aren't disabled or different from anyone else. They're still your family, and you should treat them as such.
The fact that he made the thread asking about it implies he clearly has at least some form of a problem with it, whether it's in the back of his mind or not is pointless. -

SonofanumpSnot,
Sorry I forgot to ask. Is your son going to be a pitcher or a catcher? That matters as to how to raise him.

Thanks, I just emailed the station manager in outrage.SnotBubbles;1400549 wrote:???
When I try and solicit christian athletes for my radio show or RT the show? Oh, because I've never admitted to being a christian and the station is fully aware of it. I didn't know non-christians couldn't work for christians or interview them. My bad. -
