I'm losing faith in humanity

  • sportchampps
I had three incidents today where I just couldn't believe people actions and reactions today.

1st one - on my way to lunch today I see a car slightly cut another car off. It wasn't even that bad nothing hat could have caused a wreck. Well when we get stopped at the red light I'm next to the person who cut the other one of. The guy who gets cut off actually gets out of his car and starts yelling at the girl in the car. She looks to be about 16 and just done with high school for the day. He literally calls her every name in the book. Finally when he called her a **** the light changed and she pulled off. I was so stunned I didn't even act but probably should have.

2nd- go back to the office after lunch. Our entrance is right by a lot of metered parking and I see the meter maid ticking a guy who had just went in to help push his wife's wheelchair to the car because she has terminal cancer and wanted to tell her team goodbye over lunch. The man explained what had happened and that he was only inside for 30 seconds to help get the wheelchair thru the door. Meter lady responds everyone's gotta story here's your ticket. It was only 25$ ( i get one once a month or so for an expired meter) so I asked for the ticket and told him I would take care of it for them.

3rd - go out to eat and the place is packed. We are seated after about a 30 minute wait. I can tell the server is busy but he does a good job refilling our drinks and getting our order and stuff pretty quickly. Then I hear the table beside us ask for the manager. When the manager comes out we hear him tell the manager the service was good but the server didn't introduce himself so he shouldn't have to pay for his or his wife's food. The manager then apologizes and bought their meal. I can't remember a time where I even remember my servers name for more then 30 seconds I jut expect refills and fast service.

What the hell is wrong with people that they feel so entitled and think they can treat others this way. I mean I understand the meter maid is doing her job but have some compassion I mean the woman is visibly very ill. Sorry for the rant and it's probably just my inner hippy but seeing people act this way really bummed me out on an otherwise fine day.

It's easier to take that kind of stuff when you believe that's how most people would act without social pressure.

    1) If she was 16 it was probably good for her to get chewed out. Obviously should have been done in a more polite manner.

    2) Gubmit employee doing their job. I'm sure everyone does have an excuse, but she could have used better judgement.

    3) Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode "Hey, he didn't say hello - I want my $100....we talked it over - you got a greeting that started with an H, how's 20 bucks sound?"

...People are F'd up, no compassion for anyone anymore!

    1. The girl deserved a honk but nothing more. I would've got out and ushered the guy back to his car. Unless he was bigger than me. I'm a *****.

    2. Good on you for taking care of their ticket. I'd like to think I'd do the same thing in that situation.

    3. Entitled assholes. The mgr should've laughed at them. I would refrain from going back to that place if it is going to fold to idiots like that.

We need more hippies and less douchers

#2 is a tricky one, because 95% of people who just get a ticket do have a complete bullshit story, so the parking attendant is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. I don't necessarily fault her for not listening when she may be told one legitimate true story a month. Kudos for offering to take care of it though.

My wife tells me constantly that I'm turning in to a hippie. Ten years ago I would've smacked her for calling me that, now I thank her.

Is there a rule where the server has to give his/her name? I never knew this. If I was the manager i would have been like "ok?" No way in hell I would give them a free meal.

i think once the meter maid starts the ticket they cant/dont have the ability to stop the process or void it.

I blame the erosion of society on Obama and the liberals in this world. Also, I wear an eye patch because I'm a pirate.

Number 1- lol at that dude no need to get out of the car just maybe honk or something but that chick could probably use this experience to help her later in life.

Number 2- That's not the metermaid fault. It's the dudes fault for not putting any money in the meter. It sucks his wife has cancer doesn't mean he doesn't have to follow rules. Props to you for taking care of the ticket though.

Number 3 is terrible. I mean are you fucking kidding me. I never even pay attention to my server's name especially when its a dude.

It's obvious that they're cheap, scamming pieces of shit, I'd tell them to pay up in hopes that they wouldn't ever want to come back and rip the place off again.

It's not like they're going to spread a bad word about the place except to their cheap white trash friends that will try the same tactics.

I have caught an episode or two of the show parking wars and those workers say that as well that once they start it they have to finish it. I imagine they hate hearing all the stories and such.

why in the world did you ever have any faith in humanity to begin with? Humans are greedy, nasty, lying, controlling, opportunistic evil sacks of crap who will do anything they can to get ahead of each other.

    This. Rep't.

I wonder if that old man is sweating whether you'll have second thoughts and not pay his ticket? ...Or - LMFAO - perhaps he never had any intention of paying the ticket in the first place.

    All of us???

    1. Guys like that are little bitches only acting tough because the person who annoyed them is a young girl. Needs an ass kicking to get the natural order of things going.

    2. While a part of me wants to say "typical law enforcement --- I GOTS AUTHORITY AND IMMA USE IT!!!!", but like said above, people come up with all sorts of excuses to get out of tickets, so it's understandable to take a "no excuses...period" stance in that position. Kudos to you, though.

    3. Total douches looking for a free stuff. They must be black. /sleeper'd Seriously, I'd be as pissed at the manager as them for caving in like that. Some server's getting fucked over because he had asshole customers on a busy day and a ***** boss who threw him under the bus to make them happy.

Barring outside influences, I'd say so. Nature itself seems to substantiate it as well.
