Anyone ever ship their car across the country?
-
Glory DaysHoping to find a legit company to ship my car to the west coast. Just doing a quick search, seems like most websites don't have too much info. Wondering if anyone has a company they have used in the past?

Mulvauship would definitely be a place to start.

rydawg5U can find a broker who will charge 5000% more than a trucker would. The trick is to contact a shipper directly without uship getting to earn your money as well. I'd search for independent guys or I can ask my friend who used one but was able to go direct to the shipper for much less cost because he got passed the middleman

gerb131On a side note I love Shipping Wars, some hotties on there.

Cat Food Flambe'Lease?

Glory DaysNo lease, just trying to make it last longer. I am driving my 2006 that is paid off and transporting the 2012. The 2012 is the gf's.
.....solution...save the money and dump the gf correct? -
dlazzFor simplicity's sake, say you expect to get 150,000 miles out of your car. I don't know where you live in NEO, so I'll use Stupidville as an example. Steubenville to LA is about 2,200 miles.
You're only "saving" about 1.5% on the cars lifespan by shipping it.
Just drive it. -

gutI don't know how many miles we are really talking (it doesn't make a huge difference), but $1200 doesn't sound horrible out to the West Coast. Depends on fuel price fluctuations and also seasonal demand. April might be pretty good prices because you get all the snowbirds coming back from FL and AZ, so they'll take what they can get going back.
Certainly if you can do better than $1200 go for it. Just make sure you take extensive pictures (with whomever you use) around the outside of the car, and inside for good measure. They all should do a walk around inspection with you and note any dents or scratches that you both sign as acknowledging. Same process on the return then (so don't go for dropping it somewhere and leaving it for you).
