It's an easy way to get food poisoning since hamburger is ground up, bacteria that was otherwise on the outside of the meat is now mixed throughout the meat. cooking it medium rare only kills the bacteria on the outside and can potentially leave it on the inside. cooking a streak rare is usually good enough since the meat isn't ground up, the bacteria is only on the outside of the meat.

Burger are different. My steaks go medium rare, burgers are medium to medium-well. Little or no pink inside.

I understand that, but the burgers are still cooked at hot enough where the bacteria is killed.

That said, a lot of restaurants won't cook a burger medium rare because of the restrictions. And, most of the beef I eat is raised by my family.

Maybe we need to determine the pinkness/redness of each.

To me little pink is medium well....the brighter pink/borderline red is medium.....red is medium rare and rare is bloody lol.....well done is just no pink whatsoever but still has some juice to it.

IMO, medium well is no pink, and well done is shoe leather.

So if everyone on here agrees with you then I am a notch off.....so if that's the case then I prefer medium, but I also never get above Columbus so it just might be different definitions.

Yeah.....the pics I found agree with what you guys are saying, but south of Columbus I guess is a notch off.

The medium in this pic is what I prefer.

Had the Mozzarella wrapped Prusciutto for a starter, then the Ribeye with twice baked Au Gratin potatoes
