Pickerington vs Steubenville

  • Tiernan
At least the good folks of Fairfield Cnty have enough sense not to protect their HS football players when they rape someone. Former Pick Central standout WR Roger Lewis (recruited by OSU) is on trial for raping a girl multiple times during his and hers HS years...they are both graduated and 19 now. From news accounts it sounds like Lewis is going down hard.

Too damn bad the idiots in Steubenville don't hold their youth to the same higher standards.

    Ok
  • Dr Winston O'Boogie
He certainly warrants an honorary membership to the Rape Crew. Maybe a 12 minute video by a Crew member discussing the girl's "deadness" is in order too.

    He can do it all.

Did the first trial date happen yet in the Steubenville case?

No, I believe they were moved to March.

I will wait to voice an opinion until FWQ tells us how small of a role we all play.

Are the people in Fairfield Co. that much different? This "supposedly happened during their HS years. Why is this just now in trial?

He didnt miss any HS games or anything.

It supposedly happened after the season his senior year. How can he miss games when there are no games to miss?!

Why is this just in trial now? The trial started less than a year after indictment. Both parties (prosecution and defense) have to agree on continuances, so I am not sure what you are trying to say here?

I'd guess he's trying to say the schools are on the same level before reading and comprehending the facts of the story.

Pickerington (and really, most of the "Yupurbs) in Columbus are very different from small- and medium-sized located away from major cities.

The large majority of residents moved to these communities from somewhere else. As a example, I now live in the Hilliard SD - the year I graduated from high school, Hilliard had one high school, which have been a football D3 school in 2012 terms Now we have three high schools in the D-1/D-2 range - and I'd say that 90% of the parents did not attend Hilliard schools. As a result, you don't have all that much involvement from residents that don't have kids in the various programs. Sadly, your average Hilliard resident probably could not name all three of the high school mascots.

As a result, the adults are going to view a situation such as this much more dispassionately.

In terms of time - this is not at all unusual. It took ten months between arrest and trial for the bastard that held up my pregnant daughter at gunpoint last year - even though he confessed and was found with some of the stolen goods in his possession.
