A chain of Catholic Hospitals has beaten a malpractice lawsuit by saying that fetuses are not equivalent to human lives. According to the Colorado Independent, in the death of a 31-year-old woman carrying twin fetuses, Catholic Health Initiatives’ attorneys argued that in cases of wrongful death, the term “person” only applies to individuals born alive, and not to those who die in utero.

FatHobbitI guess that makes abortion ok

just WOW! -
gutThe law is the law. According the law, they are not liable because, according to the law, fetuses are not people with rights. It matters not that they believe otherwise.

sherm03Hypocrisy...the only thing that allows Christianity to survive!

O-TrapI actually admire the consistency. If a fetus isn't a human, then something like this shouldn't involve the fetus as a victim.
I recall a case where a man stabbed a pregnant woman and killed the fetus, and he was convicted of murder. A sad event to be sure, but the courts aren't supposed to judge based on the emotional nature of the circumstances, and it was clearly an inconsistency that I found troubling. -
Devils AdvocateMy take on it...
If life is life, why not settle for the "wrongful death"
Surely they could have settled for the sum of the legal costs, and the money they have spent on challenging birth contol visa v Obama care.
I guess the church is fallible. -

Same reason they don't get the case tossed for claiming it was "God's will"Devils Advocate;1374836 wrote: If life is life, why not settle for the "wrongful death"
