Homeland on Showtime (possible spoilers)

Anyone watch? I'm catching on via on demand, midway through season 2 right now. Great show, I think the actors pull their roles off perfectly (particularly the guy that plays Brody).

I really want to watch this one. I have always loved Claire Danes and I have heard great things.

great show...brody is easily my most hated tv charachter of all time

Finished season 2 last week. I like it a lot but can't stand the love story or Claire's horrid face every time she cries.
  • TedSheckler
Carrie crying is awful, but I put up with it. Great series.

    Re: the love story

[SP]I wonder how much is Carrie playing Brody for info and how much is real. She admitted it was a tactic to mention she wants him to leave his wife and kids for her. That could change once I finish season 2...[/SP]

Season 2 was pretty bland for me. Same storyline as Season 1. Needs more action and less love story.

Claire Danes needs to die for the show to really pick up, imo.

    It will change. She's stupid.

    Lame.

    Also, Saul is a badass.

Saul needs to be in the field and kick bad guys asses. Saul and Virgil are the best characters on the show.
  • TedSheckler
I don't want to spoil anything for you, but I think Saul has some shenanigans going on.

Yeah season 1 was much better, I feel like a lot of season 2 could have been left out.

Should be pretty interesting with him next season.

Exactly my point. Then they did they whole cheesy "facetiming" thing.

I was also pissed [SP]at the fact that Abu Nazir was captured THAT easily. I mean, the biggest terrorist in the world wouldnt A. Be in America to begin with and B. Wouldnt be that easy to find. I mean, come on. That was just a terrible climax to the Season.[/SP]

I was really bummed Brody didn't die - I thought he could've been killed and the show could've still gone on. The show is a little racist towards muslims though. They even suspected the Muslim CIA agent of being a terrorist.
  • TedSheckler
Brody's awful daughter also takes me out of it. I hope she can be killed off next season early.

    Dana sucks.

Yeah, quite a few characters can die and the show could go one. Not all at once, but you get the point.

The best shows can kill off or write off main characters and just replace them. If you cant do that, your show sucks!

[SP]This season had a few moments that took me out of the show a bit. 1) Brody being left alone with the VP when the CIA knows he's working for Nazir. The entire premise of the show is surveillance of Brody, yet he's alone when he goes to see the man the CIA knows he hates because of the drone strikes? Does no one suspect him of killing him either?

    2) Black berries do now have video chat

    3) How the fuck do they not press Carrie more on how she escaped?[/SP]

Caught up on the show a few months ago after my Breaking Bad fix ended. Knowing this show was created by the same minds as 24 got me pumped and I am a big fan. It's also pretty cool because they film the show in and around when I live in Charlotte (we're a stand in for DC in most scenes). I was leaving a buddies apartment, turned the corner and they were filming a scene with some characters walking down the steet.

It does have some plot holes that are similar to the ones you could find in every season of 24 but still a great show. And I'll suffer through some of the awful characters as long as Brody's wife keeps getting naked.

This is the reason The Wire was so amazing, tons of people were killed off yet the show never missed a beat. [SP]I was hoping Brody was going to set the bomb off at the end of season 1; so disappointed when he didn't. I feel like it could have made the show even more interesting.[/SP]

I thought season 2 was better than season 1.

[SP]I think Brody was actually behind the CIA bombing. I think he turned back to Abu Nazir's side and told them the CIA knew about the bombing when the troops returned home so they came up with a new plan. Which is why he wanted nobody to be home when he came home to change into his suit for the funeral. [/SP]

    I agree with this.

This is what I think too.

If you are a Homeland fan, then you will love this SNL skit (I posted this before, but worth it again): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/12/snls-take-on-homeland-marlo-thomas-laugh-of-the-day_n_2120482.html ... Anne Hathaway is fantastic haha

    Just finished season 2.

[SP]Quinn was a badass in Estes' house.

I don't see Saul involved in the bombing or any shenanigans really. I think he means well and fucked up when he left his glasses with Aileen.

Clare Danes plays crazy so well.

We need more of Jess's boobs.

As far as Brody's involvement in the bombing .. I don't know. Could have been he was given the bigger plan by Nazir when he was taken away in the helicopter. But it was never his intention to kill innocents, only the VP, and he accomplished that. Maybe he went full terrorist, but I don't see it.[/SP]
