  There's not much you can do about the price because it's typically done on a pass-through basis. E.g., if it costs $100,000 a month, and you have 1,000 customers, they each pay $100/mo (it's slightly more nuanced than that--fixed costs, debt service, usage rates, depending on the municipality). But in general, it costs what it costs, and there's no way around that.
  
  Many utilities have programs for people who can't pay. It might be worth calling and inquiring if they have a hardship program. They might be able to set up a payment plan or help in some other way.

  Mine averages 140-160. Our electric is on the same bill. Usually total runs $250-280. I dread getting that bill every month.
