WTF is wrong with some people

With a few exceptions, can you blame them? My own personal experience has been that people are assholes at a higher rate than dogs.
If I had the money, I would do it. Hell, if people wanted to help me, that'd be okay, too.
Now, what I REALLY think someone should raise money for is a reward for information leading to the apprehension of the walking abortion that did that to the dog in the first place. -

In that case, I guess we better not subject the 2 year old child with Leukemia to chemotherapy, because they are sure as hell scared shitless and don't know what's going on either. That's a pretty dumb reason to not try to save something. Oh hell, we can't give her chemo anyways, because we can't afford it.gut;1361385 wrote:Which is fine if you can afford it. But I'd have to be making like half a mill to piss away $5k on a doggy doctor.
Maybe I'd feel differently if they lived for 30 or 40 years, or if I felt literally being scared shitless and not knowing what's going on was a remotely humane thing to subject them to. -

This completely glosses over the fact that many of the human beings in need are children. And I don't just mean the African children that you can adopt for $1/day, I mean kids in our own country who are treated just as badly as dogs, or are starving and in need. Where's the Facebook pages to help them?GoChiefs;1361336 wrote:Humans can try to get themselves out of the shitholes they've put themselves into, animals don't really have that option. A dog can't find a job to put a roof over his head or feed himself like the homeless guy under the bridge can.
And yes, I'm aware not all people can do something about the problems they are having, but a lot can. I do agree those commercials and organizations suck though.
It's not that I'm gonna sit here and say someone is a terrible person because they care about abused animals, but to justify not caring for human beings because "most human beings are terrible" or "they just need to bootstrap themselves out of their problem" is terrible reasoning. Like me saying all dogs are vicious beasts that are supposed to live in the wild so why can't they fend for themselves and find their own food. -

My post doesn't gloss over that fact because I had already addressed that earlier....Mooney44Cards;1361418 wrote:This completely glosses over the fact that many of the human beings in need are children. That would include children in need. And go look on Facebook, I'd bet you there are a bunch of pages like that geared towards helping children in need as well.GoChiefs;1361336 wrote:And yes, I'm aware not all people can do something about the problems they are having -

I don't have a problem w the FB page but stop with the horrible comparisons. I like dogs more than 2 year olds. -

It's not a horrible comparison at all if you value a dogs life as you would a humans, which with my dogs, I do. -

Do you feel this way about all animals? I honestly believe if someone witnessed a person and a dog getting shot in front of them they'd help the dog over the person.O-Trap;1361393 wrote:With a few exceptions, can you blame them? I'm fine with that if your talking about some shithead lowlife but its ridiculous you value a dogs life as much as a child. It's actually more sad than ridiculous.GoChiefs;1361520 wrote:It's not a horrible comparison at all if you value a dogs life as you would a humans, which with my dogs, I do. -

Dogs are much cheaper, more interactive, and more obedient than children. Not to mention they die sooner so there's less responsibility there too.Rotinaj;1361572 wrote:I'm fine with that if your talking about some shithead lowlife but its ridiculous you value a dogs life as much as a child. Not every dog. Just my dogs. As I stated above, which is just like another member of my family.Rotinaj;1361572 wrote:I'm fine with that if your talking about some shithead lowlife but its ridiculous you value a dogs life as much as a child. It's actually more sad than ridiculous. -
TBone14I would have an easier time killing an asshole human than a dog. People are rotten. Dogs are born innocent and good until asshole humans ruin them.

So if you had to choose between the life of your dog or the life of your child, would there be a real decision there?GoChiefs;1361520 wrote:It's not a horrible comparison at all if you value a dogs life as you would a humans, which with my dogs, I do. -

I don't give two hoots about a cow. They are born and bred to be killed for either food or goods. Dogs are not.Raw Dawgin' it;1361597 wrote:What about a cow?

Depends who you talk to - my parents house and exchange student who eats dog. My former boss worked on a dairy farm and had a pet cow. I like dogs, but i don't care for animals over people. There are exceptions of course.TBone14;1361700 wrote:I don't give two hoots about a cow. They are born and bred to be killed for either food or goods. Dogs are not.
This exactly. -

Smarter people don't make that same equivalence in the law. I shoot your dog for crapping in my yard I might pay a fine, even go to jail for a few days. Now if I shoot your kid.GoChiefs;1361520 wrote:It's not a horrible comparison at all if you value a dogs life as you would a humans, which with my dogs, I do.
It's an animal. Not a person. -

For many people, dogs ARE their only children. That's how you get people spending thousands of dollars in medical bills on dogs when most of the planet know that's a stupid and irrational decision.se-alum;1361676 wrote:So if you had to choose between the life of your dog or the life of your child, would there be a real decision there? -

Eh, probably not all animals. A snake getting run over in the road, for example, wouldn't be the same.
And if I saw a random dog and random person get shot, I'd probable help the person first, but I would try to flag someone down to help the dog, or they could help the person while I go try to help the dog. -

For what it's worth, this is my wife and I. We've been trying to have a child for a few years now, but we've been unable so far. We have three dogs, and my wife REALLY treats them like they're little people.gut;1361738 wrote:For many people, dogs ARE their only children.
