Yes. Jared. He killed his parents because he was working with Kate, "for the cause" and his parents, Emmett and Leanne wanted to keep him from doing so and safe. Jared died after he took a gunshot wound to the neck by Larrick at the cabin. Larrick had Phillip in his trunk and found Jared and Elizabeth at the cabin. Jared saved them by shooting at Larrick, but Larrick got a shot off into Jared.bigkahuna;1720302 wrote:That was the friends of theirs wasn't it? Didn't he kill them in the hotel room? I forget what happened to him after that. I know Elizabeth got him to a safe house or something. -

That was the Season 2 finale.bigkahuna;1720373 wrote:I'll have to go on Netflix to rewatch some of that stuff -
TedShecklerNot a bad finale. Not the best. They left a nice cliff-hanger for next season. Paige done screwed up. I wanted to see where the Martha storyline went. I guess we'll have to wait.

gutI liked how they shot the ending, going back and forth between Paige and Phillip. Guess they're going to make us wait until next year, but they'll finally either be arrested or turn double agent. But Elizabeth I don't know - think she will still put country ahead of family.
But I think Paige's confession to the minister is just going to sound like a wild story from a troubled teen (he's more likely to reach out to the parents then the police).
I thought last week he killed Martha since he let her see him without the disguise. But offing the IT guy should be the end of it. Not sure he can bring himself to kill Martha, and if Elizabeth or someone else does it Phillip might crack. -
bigkahunaMy guess is Pastor Tim will say something about it, and they will play it off as a heritage thing. Their ancestors are Russian or something, and they don't like talking about it because of the current climate.
The last scene was pretty telling. Phillip is about done with the whole thing and doesn't believe in the cause anymore and agrees with what Reagan was saying during the speech about the Soviets being evil. However, Elizabeth had fire and hatred in her eyes when watching the speech. -
ptown_trojans_1I loved the finale and loved the ended with the Evil Empire speech.
The last scene with Paige telling the pastor and Philip trying to explain himself was great. The acting and music on the finale were near perfect.
Historically, we are now entering the most dangerous point of the Cold War in the 80s. The evil empire speech on March 83 led the Soviets to really think Reagan was a madman and think the U.S. might launch a nuclear war.
During the rest of 83 we get the Soviet shooting down the Korean airliner, and in Nov 1983 we get the near nuclear war caused by Able Archer. I wonder how those events will play in the story as they will raise the stakes of the playing field our characters will be in. -

That's pretty accurate. Although I don't think Elizabeth is the true believer she once was, and is starting to care more about family. She's still a good soldier but she is starting to have questions and doubts.bigkahuna;1724243 wrote:Phillip is about done with the whole thing and doesn't believe in the cause anymore and agrees with what Reagan was saying during the speech about the Soviets being evil. TedShecklerIsn't it weird you root for Phillip and Elizabeth, then you realize they're Russian spies and you're supposed to hate then?
Twisted. -
TiernanYou root for the Russians because John Boy Walton is just too damn creepy to root for no matter what role or show the twisted fuck is on.

I've thought about that before with this show and others. Go Russians!TedSheckler;1724502 wrote:Isn't it weird you root for Phillip and Elizabeth, then you realize they're Russian spies and you're supposed to hate then?
