I think my wife and I will go that route once we have the financial capability. I like them.
You can't even afford a 6 pack and now you're talking about buying what is essentially a $20,000+ luxury good that's not really a house and not really a garage. Christ.

Yeah, I'm slowly trying to talk my wife in to going this route when we decide to move. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I was jw. Seems like this could possibly be a slow starting trend in this country, especially with the way the economy is going. Not too sure what I think of it. I haven't read the whole thread so if this was covered my bad, but do you know anyone who has tried to live in one of these houses? It seems like there would be many issues to deal with, especially during inclement weather. Also, it doesn't seem like any of these houses are being built in residential areas. Seems like right now you have to live in the boondocks to get one of these houses. Can't argue with the price though.

I don't know of anyone that has lived in this sort of structure but everything I am reading is positive. And I don't want to live in a residential area, my plan is to buy a piece of land out in the country and build something like this.

Sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy don't you think? People that buy these properties WANT to say how great they are so they can justify internally their erroneous beliefs. It's the same with Apple products; most people pay a lot of money to get these products and the last thing they want to do is bash the product that they just blew a bunch of money on.

Except these houses are very cheap...

Accoding to whom? The people that build them? Or someone wanting to SELL you plans to build one...I'm sure has no conflict of interest in telling you the true costs. I'm a little skeptical.

I'm not saying it'll happen overnight, but I have to have some plans...right? It'll happen one of these days. I figure once we both are working and I quit wasting my life in school, it'll happen pretty easily. Especially since it doesn't appear I'll be spending a lot of money on 6 packs!

They are actually pretty inexpensive. Do some looking around, there are some decent packages for them. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Never buy a new house and never get a mortgage.

I would. Grew up in a trailer which is a glorified shipping container with paneling and windows.
