Budweiser Project 12

  • SnotBubbles
Anyone try this sampler yet? It's 3 beers in a 12 pack. Budweiser challenged each plant to come up with a new beer. The 3 finalists are a Deep Gold, Light Amber and Dark Amber. Description in the photo.

They were all pretty good. The Dark Amber should be sold in a 12 pack...hope that wins.

eh, I'd like to be impartial and give AB and honest shot but I know I'm going to compare everyone one of those beers to some craft beer I've tried before.

Is the sampler available in most stores?

I saw it at the local Village Pantry and then went through a drive-thru and asked for it.Honestly, all but the Dark Lager taste too much like Budweiser. But the Dark Lager is worthy. Makes it worth trying the 12-pack.

Ill have to pick it up this weekend. I don't mind AB. I was drinking the BL platinums for awhile, it actually doesn't taste watered down

If AB really wanted to they could brew beers better than most if not all craft brewers.

I read about this a while ago, didn't realize they were out yet. They could be pretty decent beers, but to me are some pretty odd choices. I'd think if they really wanted to showcase what they could do they would put out something a little more extravagant. From what I understand Coors did a specialty line of sour beers which got amazing reviews.

it does taste watered down, but sounds like a classy beer.

Well I should have stated not as watered down as bud light lol

    You sir, are correct.

No, but I'm agnostic, and fuck InBev.

I picked it up last weekend, only had one so far. I generally don't like Anheuser-Busch products, but so far so good.

The pilsner in there should replace Bud Light. It is much better

I'm going to Jungle Jims tomorrow, I'll have to look for this.

The brew from LA won. I think it might be called Budweiser Black Crown and should be out early next year. But since it has the word Budweiser in it I am sure it is a shitty beer and most people will not drink it.

    Those look terrible.

Sure hope this doesn't mean AB is going to discontinue Natty.

I wonder if these all contain rice like their regular Bud.

I mean they're no craft beer, but at least the one I've had is an improvement on their normal shit.

They will find a way to mess it up by charging too much for it (see Bud Ale). Most Bud drinkers are not looking for flavor, but low prices instead.

Have not tried them but just reading the descriptions the light amber (Williamsburg) sounds the best.

This. I'll try these though. As for the Bud Ale is that even still available? I always thought it was pretty decent.

    Sums up my sentiments.

Yeah, because nobody drinks beer with Budweiser in the name. LOL!

I'll give it a fair shake. I've been pleasantly surprised before, so it's not without precedent that it could be okay, but based on several years' worth of trends, I have a hard time expecting quality out of anything that InBev is responsible for producing.

My bet is that they do.

Broken rice at that. Pretty hilarious how InBev has managed to fuck up everything the company with a 100 year history built.

Budweiser has always been an adjunct brew (used rice) as far as I know.

That may be, but you can be a great improvement over Budweiser and still be terrible. Especially since I can't imagine they're pricing this so low that it doesn't overlap with some micro-brews and you might as well just buy them.

Also, WTF does "vibrant clarity" mean?

Yes that's true, but since InBev took over, they started using broken rice (cheaper), something the old owners refused to do. People who have drank Budweiser/Becks etc... say the product isn't the same and it sucks now.

I don't think those people are reliable sources as to the quality of a product though.

Another beer snob thread in the making. Budweiser produces great beer; maybe the best on the planet.
