This thread will already probably go to the politics forum so I'll contribute. The hard worker in the first scenario will likely be helped out by the Affordable Care Act which takes a major step towards helping out folks who work but aren't able to get health insurance.sportchampps;1317951 wrote:I personally just think the system is broken. I know a 29 year old divorced single mother. She doesn't get child support because the dad is a scumbag and won't get a job and would rather spend time in jail then support his child. She works two serving jobs at upscale restaurants at about 60 hours a week. Her mom and dad are great and help her raise her child while she's working. The last month her child has began having seizures. The healthcare she has will only cover about 6 months of treatment. She went to get assistance and was told she made to much. They told her to basically only work 15 hours a week and go on welfare and they will be able to provide her with insurance, food, and shelter. So basically instead of the system helping someone in need with healthcare for a sick child the systems answer was quit working so hard and live off us. The second girl in a part time secretary in our office. This girl is 24 has 3 kids by 3 different guys. None of the guys pay child support but she won't report them to the court. Our office offered her full time employment and use of the office child care services. She basically told us no because the extra 25 hours would only increase her "income" by about $200 a month because she would receive her govt benefits. These are two examples of the many problems. Some people have no motivation or pride to not use welfare while others who have the work ethic and self pride are given no choice.
You can say people have agendas. I don't have an agenda just tired of Americans attitudes going from what can I do for my country to what can my country do for me. I will gladly pay taxs to help educate people but I also want them to keep their grades at least average and be able to pass a drug test each month.
Before Obamacare we've long paid for the people in the second scenario.

At whose expense? Gotta love the wealth redistributionists. :rolleyes:BoatShoes;1318185 wrote:The affordable care act took a major step in improving the social insurance system...especially for the working poor. -

Pretty sure I already said this guy is a douche or something equivalent. And I heard not one person bitching about the phone program, ever, before Obama was POTUS even though it's been around basically since fire was discovered.believer;1317887 wrote:Yeah...this guy seems like he needs assistance. Put him on the short list for an Obamaphone.
" This specific program, SafeLink, started under President George Bush, with grants from an independent company created under President Bill Clinton, which was a legacy of an act passed under President Franklin Roosevelt, which was influenced by an agreement reached between telecommunications companies and the administration of President Woodrow Wilson."
Yeah, let's keep having, by far, the world's most expensive healthcare that doesn't provide (when you look at the overall quality of care) the best care or really anywhere near it. That sounds like a much better idea. People going bankrupt because they get cancer? Lazy douchebags should have made more money.believer;1318212 wrote:At whose expense? Who said anything about loans? These are grants given to minorities from them to go to school and they don't just cover tuition; they cover living expenses, books, etc.Tiernan;1318463 wrote:That is complete BS. Remember, the best way to prevent racism is to use racism. Studies are out there that basically say these types of programs actually enhance racism but you can't stop them otherwise you are labeled a racist. Can we please start treating everyone equal regardless of skin color? Gosh a ruddies, what a concept! -

Even in that instance where the employers pass their rightful burden off, under the Affordable Care Act, she would be eligible for expanded medicaid or be able to purchase insurance on her own in the state exchanges with the help of subsidies.sportchampps;1318296 wrote:except where she serves both places already told their servers they wont get more then 29 hours so they don't have to pay for insurance -

You are inconsistent in your disdain for "wealth redistribution." Hope this helps.believer;1318212 wrote:At whose expense? Gotta love the wealth redistributionists.
